Question about Acer AL1916W 19" LCD Monitor

1 Answer

My AL1916W monitor will accept the Windows XP Pro output for a while but then presents a message which travels round the screen "Input not supported" and I can do nothing. It works OK with another CPU - your advice will be welcome. John Howard

It is display screen resolution issue.
When you power up the computer press F8 key then enter in enable vga mode then go to control panel ->display->settings
then change screen resolution to 1024*768 then restart then check.

You get the 'not supported' due to the video resoltion from your PC is higher than what the monitor can support.

Input not supported is floating round my monitor screen how do i get rid of it

You probably need to change the resolution setting in your computer display settings to a setting that is supported by the monitor.
Your resolution setting right now is probably too high to be recognized by the monitor.
1440x900 should be the resolution setting for an AL1916w if your video card will allow that setting

What resolution are you trying to run? The native resolution for your monitor is 1440 x 900, setting to that should fix your issue

Is this on a Linux pc? I had this problem with a Viewsonic and Ubuntu. I had to play with the Horizontal Sync and Vertical Refresh till I got it right.

Probably the settings on the computer graphics card output.
You need to selct the external screen.

Just to be sure it's not a screen fault, are you able to test it on another PC (desktop, not laptop)?

Input not supported

You may have a video resolution selected on your computer that the screen doesn't support.

The reason you see the the initial startup message is because that is loaded from the bios, prior to the settings for the graphic card output being loaded.

Try booting the computer in safe mode and adjusting the display resolution.

"input not supported"

what you may need to do is find an accepted screen resolution, as your screen is 19" widescreen and your notebook will be set for a normal monitor display, so either try the auto button on the screen or look at the properties of your graphics card om the notebook to find supported screen resolutions for extended displays.
