Question about Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ3 Digital Camera

Lens partially in and out- shutting off and back on doesn't help

Hi, So glad to find a help site! My camera has been working fine (I love it!) until yesterday. When I turned it on, the lens went partially in and out a few times then a prompt on the screen came on, telling me to turn the camera off and then back on again. I have done that many times and nothing changes.

Hi!
It's a problem with the lens - they may get stuck at some point or most likely the focus is stuck.
This is not a software problem, so I'm afraid you will have to give it away for a repair. You should contact your local Panasonic service center or other local camera service center. If they all ask too much for the repair, you can try contacting me at toms.safranovs@gmail.com

Hope this helps!

Yes, the lens can be disassembled and cleaned. But before you think about doing so, think about this. Do you have a lens collimator and other equipment necessary to ensure proper alignment on reassembly? If you don't, please leave inside cleaning to a trained professional.

Camera turns on and then shuts down leaving the

Lens errors are fairly common. Usually it's sand or grit interfering with the lens extension mechanism. Or the camera's been dropped with the lens extended. Or the camera has been powered on, but the lens had been blocked preventing its extension. Or the battery ran down with the lens extended ...

Here's some things that you can do to try to correct it. They only seem to work for less than 50% of the lens errors, but if the camera is out of warranty, they're worth a try:

Problem with camera

The lens is sticking, I had same problem, thought it was the battery. It kept doing 4 beeps and turning off, but the lens would be out.

Lightly lube the lens area with WD 40 worked, be real careful and don't use alot of it. My camera works fine now. I actually read the solution someone on this site, can't find it now, but wanted to post that it worked for me. I love the camera and was bummed it wasn't working. Works great now!

When you first turn the camera on, grab the lens, pull on it slightly. Turn the camera off and try it again. If it doesn"t work the first time , pull on the lens slightly again. It worked on mine

Fuji Technical Support team website is the place to ask for further advice. But if the camera is more than a ear old - replacement is the only remedy.

Camera stopped working, lense partially extended

Switch on - lens extends - screen comes up is the normal. Partial extension of lens and the rest does not follow. Why does the lens not complete its function? Probable cause dirt got into the slide mechanism is the simple answer. Very fine mechanism- would not try anything your self. Have you a service facility of watch repair shop near you. Or try the makers web site - they may offer a swap out facility for a modest fee.
