Re: no dialtone

Are you directly connecting the phone with modem? If yes then use a router. otherwise shorten the length of the cable (try using a 1 mt cable).

Re: no dialtone

It just sounds like the problem with the phone itself. try with the diffr phone and phone cable. If it is a cordless phone, try with the corded phone.
If you have spliter or homewiring, please isolate them and connect the phone directly the phone adapter.
- To check whether it is a phone problem, remove your phone from the phone adapter and make sure phone light on the phone adapter is solid, then make a test call from your cell phone to your phone, you can hear ringback tone on your cellphone which indicates your phone line is actually working fine. After that connect your phone back to phone adapter and check the phone light status whether its blinking or no light at all. make a test call to your phone, call may go to voicemail or may give busy signal. So it could be phone trouble.
- You may also call techsupport and ask them to assign the phone number to phone port2 ( phone adapter has 2 phone ports, by default, line assignd to port1 ).
- If your Online account has a facility to move a number from port1 to port2, you can try it.

How do I troubleshoot no internet and my DSL modem's lights are flashing

If the DSL light (sometimes may be called the Ready Light) is flashing on your modem, it means you are not getting a DSL signal.

What to do
Step 1. Take a deep breath

Step 2. Check and see if power cycling the modem clears the problem
  • Power cycling is removing the power cord from the modem's back for 30 seconds
  • After 30 seconds, plug it back in. If the DSL light starts flashing fast then goes solid, you may still want to call your provider- you could have intermittent signal loss

Step 3. If powercycling doesn't work, start checking the setup-
  • This means make certain the phones are filtered, not the modem
  • If you use a two-line adapter, remove it and plug the modem direct to the wall- if it goes solid at that point, bad two line adapter
  • Try another phone cord- cords do go bad
Step 4. Nothing's worked- so now what?
  • If the line is not a dedicated internet (You see a phrase like "Dry Loop" on your bill) and has voice- plug a known-good phone in.
  • If you have a dry loop- contact your ISP
  • If it has dialtone- contact your ISP
  • If it does NOT have dialtone, contact your phone service provider
  • If you have weird static noises on the line, unplug the modem from the phone line- if it goes away when the modem is removed off the line, contact your ISP for a modem replacement
  • If it does NOT go away when the modem is removed, contact your phone service provider for noise on the line
Step 5. Ok, I've contacted my ISP- what do they expect me to do?
  • The ISP will have you run through the troubleshooting I just provided
  • Once they've determined that the issue needs to go to Maintenance (Key words: Trouble Ticket, technician call)- make certain you work with them to schedule a window that is at least 4 hours long, and that you provide at least 2 valid contact telephone numbers
  • Once the appointment is made, please realize that this is a window- if the tech has not shown up w/in two hours of the window, it is definitely ok to contact the ISP for a status on where the tech is.
Step 6. Compensation for downtime
  • Varies between companies- usually they will only credit for the service interruption. Documentation is important.
  • If your service goes down- *REPORT IT*
  • Even if it is resolved by a power cycle of equipment- if you have an issue reported that later needs dispatch- a history of having int issues documented will make you getting the appropriate downtime credit a LOT easier
Final tips

DO be polite
DO be prepared to troubleshoot- it could be as simple as removing a bad filter to get you back in service
DON'T expect the tech to fix everything. You have to troubleshoot.
DON'T make unreasonable demands- it is very very unlikely to get a technician out the same day if you call in to report at 7pm. Conversely, reporting it in the morning is more likely to get you in the same day. This however is dependent on the work load for the technicians- but the rule of thumb is: The earlier you report the trouble, the earlier it gets fixed.
DO expect courtesy from the agent
DO read terms of service for your provider
DON'T believe what sales says- they will sell you anything to get you to sign.
DO keep a log of when you have issues- it helps, ESPECIALLY in the intermittent issues DO write down your password to your network and internet- but keep it in a safe place!

Password recovery on PAP2

There is a hard reset that can be done via the phone IVR. Connect an analog phone to the RJ-11 port on the PAP2 and pick up the handset, where you will hear dialtone. Press * (4) times and you will be told you are entering the configuration menu. Press 7 3 7 3 8 + # and you will be asked to enter 1 to confirm. Congratulations, you factory-defaulted your PAP2, the adapter will restart and you can log in with the default user name 'admin' with no password.

The power light is red and only the wireless light is lit green. ATT said I needed a new modem. True?

actually the only thing you need is to replace the adapter itself, but 5.1 volt ac adapter has run out thru out all the store even in wall mart. i believe they have an ac adapter that has adjustable voltage. if you still unable to get one, that is the time you need to purchase a new modem

I have three questions regarding the Avaya One-X Quick Connect G11 PSTN Gateway. 1. Can it be programmed to ring all phones and if noone answers then go to extension 200 voicemail? 2. Can you get rid of...

1. Can it be programmed to ring2.gif all phones and if noone answers then go to extension 200 voicemail?
Yes, you need to browse to the gateways IP and look at the destination of the lines. If a single extension is the destination, you need to make a group, put all the phones in it, and then point the lines to that group.

2. Can you get rid of the dial 9 to get an outside line and just grab available line when handset is picked up?
No, unfortunately you can not.

3.How do you eliminate noise and echo in the background when on a call? Also has some bleeding over, someone else in the office could hear meon the phone when they were on the phone.
Make sure the gateway is grounded to a good ground. if the problem persists, you can try to upgrade the gateway and phones.
