I`ve had my cordless phone for two months now, I had no problems until 2day. I have no dial tone, people call but when I pick up I can`t hear anything. I unplugged the phone from the internet box and wall, unplugged the battery and now I`m at a loss of what to do.
    Anyone have any ideas?

I have the exact same problem. Phone light is off and only turns blinking on when I pick up the phone. I changed the wirless phone to corded phone, took out the splitter but no use. When I call my voip number from cell phone the message says" this number is unavailable please leave amessage" I am really tired now. Did anyone find a fix for the problem? my internet works just fine with the same voip connection, it is only the telephone.

Are you directly connecting the phone with modem? If yes then use a router. otherwise shorten the length of the cable (try using a 1 mt cable).

It just sounds like the problem with the phone itself. try with the diffr phone and phone cable. If it is a cordless phone, try with the corded phone.
If you have spliter or homewiring, please isolate them and connect the phone directly the phone adapter.
- To check whether it is a phone problem, remove your phone from the phone adapter and make sure phone light on the phone adapter is solid, then make a test call from your cell phone to your phone, you can hear ringback tone on your cellphone which indicates your phone line is actually working fine. After that connect your phone back to phone adapter and check the phone light status whether its blinking or no light at all. make a test call to your phone, call may go to voicemail or may give busy signal. So it could be phone trouble.
- You may also call techsupport and ask them to assign the phone number to phone port2 ( phone adapter has 2 phone ports, by default, line assignd to port1 ).
- If your Online account has a facility to move a number from port1 to port2, you can try it.

How do I get the phone off DND mode

A common problem on the NEC Electra/Elite phone system is that users will pick up the phone and start dialing numbers while hearing intercom dialtone which sounds identical to outside line dialtone. If the user dials 4 then 0, DND is set on that phone ext. The easy way to clear this problem is to go to the phone that is in DND, lift the handset or press speaker and dial 4 then 2. You should get a confirmation tone after which you can just hang up.

Password recovery on PAP2

There is a hard reset that can be done via the phone IVR. Connect an analog phone to the RJ-11 port on the PAP2 and pick up the handset, where you will hear dialtone. Press * (4) times and you will be told you are entering the configuration menu. Press 7 3 7 3 8 + # and you will be asked to enter 1 to confirm. Congratulations, you factory-defaulted your PAP2, the adapter will restart and you can log in with the default user name 'admin' with no password.

The entry of the phone number dials, but it stops at the last number, it does not connect.

Is the phone actually connecting to the phone line? You can enter a number and tell it to dial, and the phone will, but if you never got a dialtone the call won't go anywhere. If you press the TALK button, do you hear a dialtone? If not, you'll need to check the base unit connection to the phone line. The cord may have come loose at one of the ends, or some problem has occurred on the phone line. Maybe another phone in the house isn't properly hung up.

If you do get dialtone, make sure you're dialing a complete number. Maybe one of the numbers isn't being entered, and the phone line is waiting for the rest of the numbers. This is actually unlikely, since if you are connected but don't place a call after some time, an error message comes from your service provider.

You can also try re-registering the handset. If it's not communicating properly with the base, this will usually get it going.

Then, if other handsets are working and this one doesn't, it's just an electronic failure of some kind in the handset. If it's still covered by a warranty, let Vtech fix or replace it. Otherwise you'll need to purchase a replacement or see what service options are available.

No dial tone but the word "talk" appears and it lights up so I don't think the battery is dead.

I agree that the battery sounds good.
So, do you have another phone to confirm that you have dialtone coming into your home?
If so, then the two ends of your wireless phone are not communicating...
They will try to resync if you power both ends off for a few minutes (unplug the base and remove the battery from the handset).

After a few minutes off, reconnect everything and place the handset in the base.....
After 5 or so minutes, test again. If it is NOT broken inside, it should provide dialtone (if it is coming into your home).

Message box says full, but machine shows 0 messages

Do you also have a telephone-company provided answering feature on your line (such as Verizon's home voice mail)? I've known other people who got this service as part of a package from their phone company without realizing it, and had just the same trouble. Your callers may be reaching that instead of your answering machine.

Most companies alert you to waiting messages through "stutter dialtone." When you pick up your handset you'll hear two or three short bursts of dialtone before it goes steady. This is your signal to pick up your voicemail messages. Are you hearing this?

Check with your telephone service provider if you are unsure. If your telephone answering machine says it hasn't taken any messages, the full box message must be coming from them.

Dialing out

Usually picking up the handset and dialing " 9 " will get you another dialtone and then you dial the number you want. If you receive a busy signal it could mean your system requires another number to dial out or your phone is restricted from dialing out. When you pick up your handset or press the INTERCOM key you should get a triangle shapped light which means you can proceed with dialing your access code for making a call ( 8 or 9 ). Hope this helps, let me know ...Mike

This sounds like the register-deregister problem elsewhere on this page. Try holding down the "end" and "#" buttons for about 6 seconds to deregister the phones and then reregister them. I had this problem too and it worked for me.
