Cannot boot from cd to reinstall windows 10
SOURCE: Install Windows XP without a CD drive
You'll need to assign the CD drive (which should show up as USB devicein BIOS or setup) as first boot device, if capable on your model/Computer. After you press power button, you should see a menu or dialog that shows something like 'press F2' or 'Delete' to enter setup. Once in setup, you should navigate thru until you find boot options or something of that nature. Select 'Boot from CD' or ' USB Device'. You should now insert your XP CD into the drive, close the tray, then choose 'Save'. It should now let you boot from the XP CD. At the first screen, you should select 'R' for repair console. It will then ask you to select an installation, type a '1' and then press the 'Enter' key. Next line will ask you to type an Administrator password. If you have one, type it, then press Enter. If no password, just tap the Enter key. Now, at the prompt, type CHKDSK C: /r as in (C: a space /r). then tap the Enter. It shoild now attempt to repair your Windows 2000 installation. When it finishes, reboot, go back into Setup and change first boot device to hard drive. Select Save and reboot LT. Have fun!
SOURCE: password
that is because the password in question that you are trying to get past is the BIOS password most likely. Verify that your computer is turned off, remove power cord from back of computer, and find the jumper near the Bios chip on the motherboard. It will usually be close to the battery ( another option, temporarily remove the battery for about 30 seconds, then replace the battery into its proper position ). Be careful when you do this as some battery sockets are a pain to work with. Anyway in nearly all cases, the Bios reset jumper is located very close to both the battery and the bios chip ( firmware ). Removing the Bios reset jumper and positioning it one pin over from the initial position will usually reset the bios and get rid of the bios password requirement. Always put the bios reset jumper back into its initial position before re-appying power to the motherboard. Be careful not to leave anything loose lying around on the motherboard or in the case, else you might fry the motherboard..
Once you have successfully managed to get past the Bios password, then you should see the computer start to boot up normally and prior to Windows boot up and in the Bios routine you can configure the computer to boot to CD first. In many more modern situations, the motherboard is already configured that way.

It might not run on vista. Vista in incredibly picky and most games needs patches. Best bet is to go to the sims website and see if they have the patch for vista.

When you boot your computer, you need to hit the key to get you into the bios setup. F10, F2 or Del keys are the usual ones.
Once into the bios, change the boot order to make the CD drive first, and then you will boot right to the CD.
Note, you will also have to hit a key when it starts to boot, it will say, hit a key to boot from CD.
If you miss the key to get into the bios, you have to start over again. Sometimes you have to hit the enter bios key over and over to get in there.
