SOURCE: can't get all digital channels

There are several possibilities assuming you have an outdoor antenna with the amplification. You are too far from the transmitter or the station is still on a low power digital transmitter until the analog broadcasts end. Additionally, there may be buildings, hills or trees in the way. The first one is called the digital cliff - you either have enough signal for your tuner or you don't. Some stations may need to add transmitters to cover the secondary areas that could still receive the analog signal. The second possibility will either resolve on Feb 18 or June 12 or anywhere in between. (It will depend on your station and the Digital TV transistion delay bill. Some stations are changing frequencies with the transistion and can't go to full power until another analog station moves its frequency.) The last one can't be resolved.
If you have an indoor antenna, you can try moving it around to get better results. My household has an amplified outdoor antenna with a rotator to get the antenna to line up with the signal. We have two analog stations that give problems when we look for their digital signals. We hope the issue will resolve with the changeover since we have seen the signals on both stations improve when they wanted to broadcast football games.

Cable in my area has switched to digital cable. I own a Hitachi HDTV about four years old. When I scan my channels it will only scan analog channels...the digital channels are an option but I don't...

Unfortunately, you need a set-top box. The Hitachi 65F59 has an ATSC (digital OTA) and NTSC (analog) tuner. It doesn't have a clear-QAM (unencrypted digital cable) tuner.

There are a few DVR set-top boxes with QAM tuners that you can buy separately. (You will need to make sure a given model is compatible with your service. FIOS uses a different option on the Cable Card than other providers.) Alternatively, you can get a cable box from your company.

Retrevo has the manual for this Hitachi TV here: http://www.retrevo.com/support/Hitachi-65F59-TVs-manual/id/371ci977/t/2/ . You will need to enter a code to access the PDF.

If you want OTA HD, you will need to determine the correct antenna for your area and the direction to the transmitters. (External antennas pick up more stations. In some areas amplification may be needed to get a good signal.) See antennaweb.org or tvfool.com for searches on the appropriate antenna to get a signal and where to point the antenna. Antennaweb assumes an external antenna but is very conservative in the received channel list. You would need to set the TV signal input to Air and rescan for channels if you choose to go with the OTA signal.

I wish that I had better news for you.

Where can I find the Antenna input on the back of the Hitachi 55PMA550. Just moved house and trying to setup but can't find it.

"HDTV-ready" is a title used for the first generation TVs which could display higher resolution image provided by newer formats, however MISS the ability to receive such channels over-the-air.

Put simply, many such TVs do not have anetanna input - they just do not have a built-in tuner for over-the-air reception by themselves and need an external receiver - be it a cable receiver or just a simple TV receiver box.

Not sure if this applies to your TV, but as I said it's a common thing for most HDTV-Ready ones.

Hope this helps.

My philips flat screen tv, one year old, teletext just stopped and get the message on the botton left corner 'no text'.

Please check your antenna connection to the tv, normally this happens if there is an open connection between the tv and the antenna. Also try to move the antenna to a different location.Hope this helps and if you have any question please feel free to ask but do allow me some time to get back to you.

TV won't work with rabbit ears

You must change the input on the system to be AIR/Antenna , the way it was before was set to cable/dish/DTV.
The tv sees the input different.

Is my tv digital already or do I need a converter?

Your TV does have a digital tuner in it already. Also a converter box is only needed if you use an Antenna to recieve TV. So if you have Cable or Satillite, you will not need a box at all.
