Unlocking driver door only silences a factory alarm. put the python in valet mode until you can get another remote. key on hold valet button for 5 secs and led should glow all the time.

there could be a problem with the actual remote, get it checked, if you do need a remote plz get it from a mercedes main dealer.

I had the same problem, then I downloaded the user manual from the Directed Electronics site. It seems with most of the remotes (1400xp included) all you have to do is press the AUX button and then the Lock/Unlock button. This puts it into Silent Mode and no more chirping late at night or early in the morning, but you still have the ability to have it chirp when you need to by only pressing the Lock/Unlock button. usually after opening the door you can deactivate the alarm by pushing th unlock button or simply insert keyy in ignition and turn it on.
