My 97 vw jetta gl stock radio does not work, I replaced the fuse for it but now the screen just lights up green nothing else

It's likely there is a security code for the radio which since being "disconnected" thinks the battery has been removed. Check with dealer by vin. They probably have the security code in their system.

I just put a new head on my 96 vw jetta and its knocking

I hate to inform you that changing the head does nothing to solve this issue. The knocking sound is coming from the the piston rods inside the block. It would be in your best interest to either drop a new engine in it. Unless you want to do a complete engine overhaul sir; I would advise against the latter.

Go to the head unit and then to setting.. In "General" select the option "Auto Off" and switch it to On.. It make you sure that no matter if the radio stay on, after switch off the ignition, it will turn off automactly after a few seg without the use!

it sounds like your battery got a bad deal as its probably not holding a charge ,take it out and have a load test put on it at an auto store.a new battery should fix your problem good luck.

Your Jetta has a block heater available. It plugs in and keeps the block warm, making it easier to start. Below is a link with step by step instructions for battery replacement.

I just got a new battery for my audi a6 quatro

you will need to pull the radio out and get the serial number off the back of the radio unit. then call up your local VW/AUDI repair shop or dealer and ask them to look up the code for you. i had to do this last week with my VW jetta.

ask your friend for the code, since the friend who you have bought it from programmed the code it's(radio) asking for.
