I have a Whirlpool dryer and for the past 4 months the dryer has been making a squeky noise. It usually dries the clothes but I have to put them in a little longer to get them dry. The squeky noise happens a few minutes after you push the start button. After it has been running a while I don't hear the noise. I was reading some of the other questions and if this is a belt issue do you know about how much it would cost to get a new belt. Thanks.

sounds as if you have a pulley/accessory that is out of alignment-most likely either ac or alternator- it takes very little to make it noisy.either cleaning mount for out of alignment accessory or washers to move forward can cure it sometimes

My Whirlpool Duet dryer is making a loud squeeling noise when drying.

Hello, the squelling noise from your dryer may be coming from the drum rollers. May need to be opened up and lubed. It can also be the idler pulley, also can be lubed. Disconnect power, remove lower panel, and see if you can isolate the noise. Oil where necessary. If you can't get to it, the drum wil need to be removed. If something is locked up or damaged, it will need to be replaced. Caution: Don't stick fingers near moving parts when running :-> Hope this helps, Rich

The Dryer drum has stoped turning in the clockwise direction and the motor hums when you try to start the dryer. heard a squelling noise before it quit. I have taken the back off and cleaned the vent...

next time send model number,if you looked and nothing was in the blower wheel and you can turn the drum by hand it sounds like you have a bad motor, take the belt off and pull the drum, stick a piece of wirer in the door switch harness, there should be three openings stick it in the two outside holes, the middle is the ground and see if the motor will spin by itself, also check the pulley but like i said sounds like the motor is bad

The drum makes a squelling noise. the clothes are drying but the noise is very loud

ALWAYS UNPLUG YOUR DRYER BEFORE STARTING ANY REPAIRS
Your problem sounds like drum rollers have flat spots on them or in need of lubrication.
Check your drum rollers for flat spots or wear, if they have flat spots or wear on them replace them. If the drum rollers don't have flat spots or wear on them then they probably only need lubrication. Lubricate the shaft of the rollers with a good grade of machine oil such as 3 in One oil. Reassemble the dryer, plug back in. This should solve your noise problem. I will include these two websites for parts and further help: http://www.partselect.com/ http://www.appliancepartspros.com/index.aspx Both also have chat assistance 24/7. Good Luck, I hope this helps Please rate me, Thank You

Maytag legacy squells like crazy, trouble gaining entry to check idler arm.

The noise you are hearing could be coming from the drum rollers needing lubricant.
If it is a front loading maching pull off the front of the machine, you can access the drum rollers to lube them or replace them and also get to the idle arm

The bobbin quits turning and a squelling nose starts.

Hi, have you tried a new bobbin? The bobbin has a catch point where it is engaged by the drive, it this is broken/worn it may slip and squell.

Maytag dryer - makes squelling noise when you turn it on

Your glides are getting thin. Not unlike that of shoes on an automobile the glide will wear down and start the old metal to metal screaching.
Get the front off and get the drum out. Remove the glides and replace them. Or flip them over if you are
a cheapskate. LOL Use this GUIDE that tells how to access yer dryer innards and a lot of other cool stuff. Hay I wrote it!

Load squeaking when running dies sometime

all pullys should be moving in the serpentine belt, if one is not moving than that would cause friction and belt winning. replace what ever that pully is attatched to the bearing is ceased.

Dryer squelles

the sound is thr support rollers or the idler pully, the support rollers located under the drum to the back the pully holds the belt tight. look for meatle shavings or rust dust on rollers.
