Disconnect the video cable from one end (either back of monitor or back of computer tower) and if you get any display like a box with green, red and blue lines the monitor is fine and this could be an issue on the computer. If the power light is green and with the video cable disconnected you dont get anything on the screen then there are high chances than the monitor is broken.

No! my dear, monitor does not display its means that your monitor kit that is inside requires heat from outside for 3 to 4 hours. You should keep in sunrays. Thr monitor's display will comeback.
Thank you

Black screen

At this point I believe there are failed caps in your monitor.

This is very common in all LCD monitors. Did the tech just push the power switch off and on?
From my experience at fixing broken monitors of all brands, I think it is the power supply problem.

Monitor black but power light blink green

The 470uF 25 Volts capacitors on the power supply board are probably bad. Replace them all and tell us the result !

Monitor comes on for 1 second and then goes black (no Picture) presume it is a broken trace on the main board. This is the 2nd monitor that has the same issue. 2 sepetate brands Dell and Viewsonic.

bburgert, Hi, 12fixlouie here. Possible problem with "switch-mode-power-supply" or the "cold-cathode-fluorescent-lamp" power supply that is called the "inverter circuit" which lights-up the CCFL lamps. use warranty service if possible. Yes, it could be a broken trace, but more likely a "cold" solder joint or possible bad (failed) capacitors on SMPS board. You or electronics technician will need to visually inspect SMPS/inverter for top 2 causes of BLACK or BLACK and BLANK LCD monitor failures. Read more of my responses in my fixya profile and see if they will help you make decision on what to do. A trip to YOUTUBE will also help if you need to see what is inside a typical CCFL backlit LCD monitor!!! Also try www.ccl-la.com/badcaps.htm that is run by another fixya tech nickname of buddymc. Lots of good info already on web about YOUR monitor symptom. Some are repaired quite easily by owners who are handy with soldering pencil and solder and some basic hand tools of electronic nature. Good luck on the repair. If this was of some use, then rate it on fixya. Bye for now.

I also have a hp w1907 monitor which also powered on for a second and then go blank with the power light still on.. it was out of warranty so I had no loss so I took it apart..I found one of the wires broken at one of the backlight bulbs { becarefull they are fragile and there is four of them, two on the top and two on the bottom... and the lcd screen is very fragile } I soldered the wire back on and it all work fine... just remember where all the screen parts go.

Monitor not turns on

first off check all the chords and make sure the monitor is turned on. as you have probably done this try to use a different monitor. borrow one for an hour or something. if the second monitor is black as well it is your video card in your PC and you will have to replace it. If it boots as normal that of coarse means that your Xerox monitor is broken and needs to be replaced/repaired. Hope your warranty is still good. Good Luck.

Screen goes black after 2 seconds

This could be one of two problems, the light in your monitor has a loose cable, or the light is dying. I have seen cold cathode lights that are about 10-15$ to buy and many instructions on putting them in yourself.

Solution 2, your cable is loose on the back of the monitor. Make sure you have the screws tightened on either side of the vga or dvi cable, both on the back of your monitor and on the back of your computer or laptop.

When plugged into power I get no green light at the pwr switch, All is black. Is there a fuse burned out or is the pwr. switch broken???

1. Try a different power cable.
2. Open the monitor up, see that the soldering to the cable connect, or the switch isn't broken.

Power light flashes with no display

That usually means that the connection between the PC and the monitor has been interupted- check that the cable (probably has blue ends) between the two is firmly connected, and power it back up. If that doesn't work, you have one of three problems; a broken VGA cable, a broken monitor, or a broken video card. Finding out which- you'll actually need someone tech-savvy there to help you figure that out. Try plugging the monitor into a different computer. If that fails, use a different VGA cable (cables are pretty cheap at monoprice.com), and if that fails, it's your video card.
