Laptop gets extremely hot underneath

A hot laptop underneath is normal as long as the laptop is not turning itself off. Also a hot AC Adapter is normal. Some barnds of laptops and chargers (AC Adapters) get hot but if the laptop is functioning don't worry about it.

You can buy a Laptop Cooling Fan which plugs into the USB Port. The laptop sits on top of it and it has fans which help keep the bottom cool. You can get one for less than $20 at:

When the site comes up just put in the white search box at the top of the web page: Laptop Cooling Fan and press GO. When the results are returned you can filter them by Price Low to High.

The link below shows one that I've used to diagnose if a laptop is over heating. The laptop was constantly cutting off unless I would sit it on the cooling fan.

You can also put a lapdesk which is just something that holds the laptop while it is in your lap while in bed or on the sofa For $25

When the site comes up just type: Lapdesk in the search box at the top of the page and press GO.

The link below is for one that is $24.99

Below is a link to one made by Belkin that I found on eBay. My wife uses one like this to sit in bed and watch soap operas all night.

My dryer keeps cutting off i guess when it gets warm or hot keep cutting the circuit breaker off..

If it is tripping the main circuit breaker there is a chance that the circuit breaker is bad. or your heating element is grounding out. make sure to check the main power cord and make sure the terminal block is in good shape

Overheats and freezes

Turn the computer off.
Disconnect the AC power.
Remove the battery.
Buy a can of compressed-air.
Give the computer a "blow-job", because dust inside the computer is working as a layer of insulation, i.e., not allowing your computer's fans to cool itself.

The bottom of my computer gets extremely hot. what causes this? and how can i fix this issue before it ruins my computer?

For starters, don't put it on any soft surfaces, like bed, your lap, or anything of that sort. A laptop has small "feet", and when placed on a hard surface they elevate it so that there's some air flow from the bottom of the laptop case. If you put it on a soft surface, the material gets pressed against the air inlets and blocks the air flow.
If you work a lot with your laptop on your lap or bed or such, get yourself a laptop stand on which you would put it, or use a substitute, like a kitchen cutting board of suitable size.

If however the laptop is used on a hard surface and still gets very hot, it can mean a couple of things:
- the "feet" under the laptop have lost their rubber ends, which give them the appropriate height
- the air ducts inside the case are filled with dust residue, making it harder for the radiators to disperse heat.
If your rubber "feet" un-glued themselves, it will be hard to replace them with exact equivalents. You can try sticking some rubber/silicone self-stick bumpers used in furniture to dampen the doors.
If dust is suspected, compressed air can be used to blow it away through the air inlets and outlets (the latter usually are grilles on the side or rear of the machine).

Sirpnp2 reciever gets hot and loses signal.

I had the exact same problem with Sirius radios. I bought two Kenwood DTS-7000S receivers and both were sent back for warranty. Of the two, they only fixed one but by the time I figured out the other was bad, it was out of warranty. Kenwood, along with the repair community state they do fix such units, they toss them out. The thing that gets hot hot hot is the part that receives the Sirius antenna inside your unit. If you're like me and have nothing to lose then I recommend doing some cutting with a dremel and adding a small computer fan. It just takes a light breeze to keep that part cool enough (but it does take some sort of breeze, convection is out). For a home unit, find an old A/C power supply and match it to an old computer fan of equal or less voltage. For car, find a fan that uses 12 volts or less. It's an easy fix, really!

When you say cut off are you meaning that the laptop is shutting down?

The fan is only running intermitently when on battery as the laptop is running in power saving mode
and the speed drops when not needed as well as the cpu voltage
therefore reducing the heat produced and the nedd for the fan to run.

Try using a program called cpu-z and it will show the speed of the cpu going up and down as needed. Also use speedfan to sjow you the cpu tempreture.

Hope this helps and puts your mind to rest ? :)
