Cpu fan starts but no other indications

I just built this pc and start it up and the cpu fan starts up and everything seems fine but no video or anything. I have a video card in the PCI slot that is connected to the monitor. If I can't see what's going on how do I install video card?

There is no other Video on the motherboard besides PCI -E slots, a serial port, parallel port, and USB ports. Does it need a PCI-E video card instead?

  • boss78hogg Nov 24, 2007

I'm using the a PCI video card in the PCI slot but I'm wondering if the default in the BIOS is set to PCI-E and thats why I can't see anything!?!

    Thanks for all the help!

If there a built-in videocard on your motherboard you must disabled it from the CMOS setup before you can use to the separate video card.

Please give me any update

Yes of course, you need to use the PCI-E slot to make it work and display your monitor.

  • Cheater Cheater Nov 24, 2007

Make it sure your separate video card are compatible with PCI-E slot.

Please be advice that the PCI slot and PCI-E is suitable to installed the slot but the problem is the compatibility of the volts which is not compatible. PCI slot videocard are uses not the same volts between PCI-E slot videocard.

You have to buy PCI-E video card not the PCI it will not work..

Please rate me SOLVED if you accept the advice.

Try downloading the latest video driver. it could just be a faulty driver file. Make sure the heatsink is clamped to the CPU correctly. this is much more important than having thermal paste on it. If someone has removed the heatsink, they may not have replaced it correctly

What makes 511-cpu fan not detected and 512-chassis not detected

Are you seeing this error on a system you built or a pre-built system? If it is a pre-built system, check that the fans are running. Next check where the fans are plugged in, the CPU fan must be connected to the CPU fan connector on your motherboard. The chassis (rear case fan) only needs to be connected to the motherboard if you want the monitoring/PWM (modulated fan speed) option. If your CPU fan is powered directly from the power supply, change this.

If this is a system you built or recently updated the case, check your fan power connections, as above. Next check the fan speed. My ASUS board will give the "CPU fan not detected" error if the CPU fan speed is too slow. A different CPU fan will solve the problem. (I got my fan with the CPU; it works fine.)

I hope this helps. Please add a comment with more information about your system for more assistance.

Sounds like you need to go into the Bios if you know how and adjust the thermal values in there. I suggest checking heatsink on cpu is seated correctly and add a fan to increase airflow in side the case. Seems like a heat problem from what you describe.

Ultra m923 mid-tower case won't stop beeping

The problem is the board on the case's display. It has temp alarms for your components(video card, hdd, cpu), there are temp probes for you to set so you can monitor these temps. However the board that controls these functions, or at least mine and many others I have read about, is defective. It will change display constantly and sometimes have garbage display. It is setting its own limits for what is considered a hi temperature. The limit it has set for one of your components is < room temperature so it thinks you are having an overheating problem. You can manually set the limit for overheat and it will fix it for a while, but it will prob happen again.

Motherboar fail, no video, power supply ok help

Hello,
Firstly, remove the RAM and turn on the system, if you hear the beep sound continuously that means everything is perfect expect RAM.
Clean the track of RAM at both sides by pencil eraser completely.
Also clean the port of RAM.

Secondly reinstall the CPU with CPU FAN and also clean the FAN.

Third one is that remove all the add-on's card and than turn on the system.

My Fujitsu Siemens Scaleo P tower fails to boot up, sometimes shuts down after a few seconds, no output to monitor. Can you help

I also have a Fujitsu-Scaleo P, yesterday I had the same problem exactly as described here. The issue is that the CPU fan does not work anymore. It is easy to replace, only four Phillips screws to be removed. I simply don't know if the new fan replacement can be bought alone, or if the air duct will be in the replacement kit, along with the aluminum block. It is a Cooler Master Model made by Protechnic Electric model MGT 9212ZR-W25. If it wasn't that the problem, when the computer is still cold, try to boot it, press DEL which will bring up the BIOS Setup Menu, and you can see if the Fan still works: in one of its menus shows the Fan RPMs and CPU Core Temperature. Good luck.
