What is the speed of your network switch or router? If your computer is hooked to a 10 MBPS switch, that is all the speed you will get. My only other suggestion would be to look in the motherboard BIOS and see if there is a setting that affects the onboard lan speed.

My connection through my 2wire pc port phoneline is extremely slow, the internet is very laggy, yet all the computers connected directly to the router through ethernet cables are very fast

This is because the adapter is ONLY 10Mbps you need a higher one 100Mbps or even 1000Mbps... That adapter is too old to be used on a high speed network, replace it with a faster one.

P4B266-LA motherboard, with intergrated ethernet, not working how can i trouble shoot, i found some usb drivers for my modem and im only connected at 10Mbps instead of 100.

Hello!

It is so a litlle informacion, but I will try .
First step, you must see in bios, does the lan is enabled.
In some case, if lan is enabled, they can be a bad, if thunder.
If it so bay PCI network adpter, and you can solve you trouble.
In same case viruses can make a problem, and you must reinstall you system.
Also try to find drivers for you network adapter, on asus page, you search yours motherboard.

Cannot get the onboard gigabit lan to work?

You need the chipset drivers for the motherboard, to get the onboard ethernet adapter to work. Try this link:

http://support.asus.com/download/download.aspx?SLanguage=en-us

If the link doesn't work, go to ASUS address, select the download option, then in the pull down menus, select:

> Motherboards
> AM/AM+
> M2NBP-VM CSM

You'll be prompted for your OS, so pick the correct one, then you'll be at the download page for all your drivers - Chipset, sound, graphics, etc.

Cheers

Ethernet LAN

That is a network card that has the abililty to automatically adjust it's speed between the old standard of 10MBps network systems all they way to the current 1000MBps, (1Gigabit LAN) network speed. And RJ45 is just a typ of connector that all network cabling uses. It's kind of a double-wide version of a phone plug.

Drivers

The onboard Network card is based on the nVidia nForce 4 chipset that is also the standard Motherboard Chipset. This can be downloaded from the Asus Website.

Are you having any difficulty with the Onboard LAN or is this just an issue of getting the driver for the LAN card installation?

ECS GeForce6100SM-M Onboard Network Adapter does not show up in windows???

I had the same problem. Tyr this.. Install windows x64 1st install the ide driver (it's a setup program) reboot 2nd go to device manager, you will see a PCI bridge device, update that driver to the lan driver on the cd. reboot Then install the rest of the drivers. If you don't do it in that order you will NEVER be able to install the Lan driver without reinstalling windows.
