do not ever let any phone tell you a battery is good, they LIE>
and in many ways.
good/bad , is not the only factor.
intermittent cell shorts and more intermittent cell opens even by temperature changing.
2013 ,,made, ? so 9 year old batteries and many sold as new are not but are like old 3year stock and the batteries are JUNK that old.


if serious why not have spare handset .? and fresh batteries, new.
batteries: and some NiMH batteries not are 10x better, as my camera used. I also have external smart charges for mine.
that work x10 better than any stinking lands phone.

If they fixed it the 1st time for free then it is their issue. When I was an AT&T repairman there were times my embarrassment over my own company's attitude made me tell the customer.
"The only way you will get this resolved is become a problem for THEM. We call it "writing the book". by reporting trouble every day or so". Eventually you fall onto the "bad actors list" and they will escalate to someone who may even know what he's doing.

problem here
if you have a copper land line then the adsl is working to be on the internet
that means that there is not a problem with the land line as both telephone and internet work through the same copper line ( different frequencies)
so that indicates that the connection at the wall for the phone is faulty, or if you are using noise suppressors as recommended on the phone line in the house , that unit may have failed and not letting the phone frequency through
which ever way , if the technicians test the line and find it good then you will be up for the cost of a technician to come and check the house phone and connections

that is not HP device,
why not tell what all that is in front of you.
my guess is this device is a home phone connected to land lines.
right? and is acting up and is not HP at all.
have you tested the land line yet with a real old fashion phone?
to see if the land line is even working?, that be first.
we call that a buttt-in-kit, in the olden days. of POTS phones
now mostly dead in USA.
