I don't want to cause any fires as I'm worried it might not be wise to use the toaster oven as it rests on a wooden table? It's the only table I have, is there anything I can do?
If your toaster oven is in good repair you should have little to worry about. A lot of you're common heating appliances will get fairly warm on the bottom but none of them will get your surface anywhere close to the 450 degrees F that it takes to ignite wood.
I would keep an eye for any signs of scorching but honestly I don't think you'll have anything to worry about.

I'm wondering if anyone can recommend a toaster oven under $100 that does a nice job with baking, reheating, toasting, and broiling? Because it sits on the counter, it should also look decent. Don't necessarily need a convection function, just something that is solid and will stand up to regular use.

Our Black and Decker counter top toaster oven (without convection) still bakes but does not toast. The elements on the bottom don't come on when we try to toast. They do come on when we bake. This has happened before but resolved on its own for convection no apparent reason.
