Question about Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W70 Digital Camera

1 Answer

DSC-W70 doesn't recognize full capacity of (Sony) 8GB Memory card

I upgraded recently from a 2GB memory card to a 8GB one. However I realized that the capacity (eg. for movies) hasn't increased in the same amount as expected; instead it merely (roughly) doubled, instead of around 4 times more.

Does a firmware update solve this problem? If yes, where can I get a (trustful) one.

Thx in advance for any help or suggestion,
M. (Austria).

Hi,
DSC-W70 hardware does not support 8GB memory stick.
Please use maximum 2 GB memory stick in this camera.

Dear,

First of all you need to confirm that what kind of memory card your are using. The officially recommended type and brands are here

Toshiba *SD Memory Card - Capacities: 512MB to 2GB *SDHC Memory Card - Capacities: 4GB to 32GB

Panasonic *SD Memory Card - Capacities: 512MB to 2GB *SDHC Memory Card - Capacities: 4GB to 32GB

SanDisk *SD Memory Card - Capacities: 512MB to 2GB *SDHC Memory Card - Capacities: 4GB to 32GB

rather than these might be problematic or not compatible...
Check this first

Best of luck!

It does not recognize an 8gb sd card in storage expansion.

Your netbook should read SDHC(over 2 GB capacity) memory cards. The problem might be either the card slot driver, Which you should download if a newer one is available. Or in case you format the SD as DOS then it will only have around 2GB of space, You should format it as DOS32 or NTFS so you get the full capacity for the SD card. Some pirated rather cheaper memory cards have a lower actual capacity. With some compression technique the capacity presented is higher than it actually is. If you format it then it will show the real capacity. hope that is not the case!

Good Luck!

Hello,
The camera does not recognize the card because

1. Card not compatible
2. Camera cannot handle such a large capacity.
3.Card not inserted correctly.
Maybe a recent firmware update can address the 2nd limitation.

Hope it helps.

Memory card capacity

BY INCRESTING MEMORY FROM LOW TO HIGH EVEY PHONE'S PERFORMANCE WILL BECOMES DOWN. THERE IS NO ALTERNET FOR IT.
BUT DONT WORRY A HIGHR MEMORY WILL NOT REDUCE YOUR PHONE'S PERFORMANCE VERY LOW. IT EFFECT VERY LIGHT DECREAMENT IN PROFORMANCE.

DONT WORRY JUST UPGRADE YOUR MEMORY. JUST DO IT.

Maximum Memory Stick size I can put into my Sony DSC-N1

Unfortunately, there is no way to change the internal card reader in the camera to accept higher density memory cards. You can find the memory stick compatibility list here: https://esupport.sony.com/perl/support-info.pl?&info_id=12 . Scroll down to the Cybershot N Series camera list. The maximum capacity memory stick is 4 GB memory stick pro or M2 Memory stick Pro. For the Memory Stick Duo, it looks like those have a maximum capacity of 2 GB.

I hope this helps.

Micro card

When I bought the phone I wanted to use a bigger Memory card. I was told it will only recognize 2gb. The booklet that comes with phone says the same thing, so would assume that is why it says full. Assuming of course youre trying to use more than 2gb at the moment.
