Bug with the DMC-FS5"please turn camera off and then on again"

The camera don't take pictures anymore. When you turn it on, the lens keep moving forward and reverse, as trying to focus onto something and after a few seconds, I get the message "please turn camera off and then on agin". I can still watch previous pictures and can still connect the camera to the computer. Don't know if it is related but it happened just after I had placed the SD card in a computer SD reader to give someone some pictures and then put it back in the camera. I tried the "not scientific" solution posted here (try to change de mode and try to take pictures until the problem stop) but it won't work!
need help!

I had the same problem and did what was advised in the non scientific way. Tap the camera off your leg when its open and this seems to dislodge or re align something and then it worked again. Not a mad hardbang but a smack.

Hi!
It sounds like the lens focus is stuck - could be sand, dirt or mechanical impact received. I'm afraid you will have to give it away for a repair - it's not a software problem, but hardware.
I have repaired a lot of Lumix cameras with this problem.

Hope this helps!

The problem is in a digital camera Panasonic Lumix model FS5. When I start the camera appears a message that say: Please turn camera off and the then on again. When I restart the camera this message...

Sounds like you're experiencing a lens error. The camera is having difficulty extending the lens. Unfortunately, many cameras that fall prey to lens error problems can only be corrected by professional repair. But, here are some last resort troubleshooting steps that you can try that may correct it. They only seem to work for less than 40% of the lens errors, but if the camera is out of warranty (or repair cost approaches that of the camera), they're worth that try.

Hi there please follow the steps and let me know the result.
1. Ensure batteries are fully charged & clean the battery connector point in side the battery compartment.

3. Try turning the camera with the lens facing down and shake to dislodge anything stuck
4. Try removing batteries and memory card, wait 5 minutes and refit the battery only.

Panasonic Lumix DMC-FS5 camera. Condensation inside lens has dried leaving two blotches behind that show on every picture. How can I clean this inside once blotches are dried there?

You can't. In the future, when coming in from the cold with your camera, place it in a 6-pack cooler that is the same temperature as the outside. Put some silica gel packets in the bottom and don't open it for a while to let it slowly come up to room temp. Cleaning the lens on your present camera could be expensive depending where you take it. Use your computer to ask for estimates.

Panasonic Lumix camera, DMC FS5

I had same problem. I just got the camera working again. Not sure how it exactly happened but while I had it on and it was zooming in and out, I changed the mode and tried to take a pic. It would ask me to turn off and on again which I would do quickly and change the mode to something else like "portrait" or "landscape", etc. and try to take a pic. After a few times it stopped and focused on something. So not very scientific but doing that must have kicked it in the head or something.

My DMC-FS5 keeps telling me to turn camera off then on again, what can I do? I have done that and it wont let me take pictures or look at my photos. It just keeps saying it over and over.

Generally the camera should come on after your turn it on and off again. The error you are getting is because of either System Error or Internal Memory Error.

I think you might need to take it to Sony. But Before that, I suggest that you take out its memory stick, the battery etc and keep the camera like that for about 15 minutes. Then only reinsert the battery (fully Charged) and try to power on. I if you are lucky, you might not need to go to Sony Best of luck and thanks for using FixYa!
