HI. check the following areas for faults.

1. Air gap / Drain hoses
If there is an air gap (located in the sink, near the faucet), check to see if it is clogged. Unscrew the top cap and see if there is anything blocking inside. Note: If there is no air gap installed, the dishwasher might not drain properly.

If the drain hose is clogged, the dishwasher would not drain. If there is an air gap installed, it is very common that a hose going from the air gap into the garbage disposer is clogged. Remove and clean the hose. Make sure to reattach the hose before starting the dishwasher.

Note: If you recently had a garbage disposer installed, it is common to overlook removing the drain plug.

2. Broken belt
Some dishwasher models use a belt to drive the pump. Replace the belt if found broken.

Note: Sometimes the belt would just come off the pump. Even though it might not be broken, it is recommended that you replace the belt, because it is probably too stretched out.

3. Pump
Some models have two impellers inside the pump - one, wash impeller, takes care of the wash cycles, the other, drain impeller, drains the water out. If the drain impeller is broken (broken blades, shaft), the dishwasher would not drain. Replace any broken pump components.

4. Drain solenoid
Some models (for example most GE dishwashers) use a drain solenoid to drain water out. Sometimes the solenoid gets stuck, preventing the water from draining out. Try to free up the solenoid. If unsuccessful, you might have to replace the pump assembly.

5. Motor
If the motor is stuck, it is sometimes possible to free it up by manually spinning the motor.

Replace the motor if defective.

6. Timer
Replace if defective (note: uncommon problem).

Kenmore 15652 model. won't drain

Hi

Dishwasher not draining issue usually occurs due to kinked drain pipe, clogged drain filter or drain pump. Check the drain hose for any visible clogging, remove if present. If no visible lint is present then remove then turn off the dishwasher and remove the drain hose and check for any visible clogging. If still not visible then the drain filter or drain pump is clogged and you'll need to clean the drain filter and drain pump. Also, check for any food pieces stuck near the pump impeller.

Please note that dishwashers don't drain out the complete water such that heating element doesn't overheat.

Hope this helps... Please post back for any further assistance.

Kenmore Dishwasher takes excesive amount of time to run, and dishes are not that clean and dosent seem to dry very well

Hi

If you are noticing that the dishes are not clean, then there are a few things to check for. Check the soap powder if it's kept in a dry environment. Also try replacing the powder with something like a gel or liquid. Next thing to check for is the water pressure and fill valve. Check if the water is filling in and the spray arms are throwing the water with enough pressure. Try and listen to the sound if you hear a proper spraying action sound.

If it seems as a low water pressure then check the fill valve. Now, check if dishwasher is draining the water or not. While the dishwasher is working check whether the dishwasher is draining and there is not much left out water after the cycle is complete. Try cleaning the spray arm with a soft brush. The water temperature plays a major role in cleaning of dishes. The temp should be between 125 and 150 F for dishwasher to clean the dishes. Hope this helps...

It has not been cleaning good and now it did not drain the water out. What could be the problem. Please help

Something is in the pump blocking the water from getting out. Take the diswasher out if it is installed into a cabinet. Disconnect the drain hose. Turn the dishwasher around and remove the pump and clean it out. If there is nothing inside the pump then the pump is broken and you must replace it. Generally the pump is not working.

My kenmore diswasher model 665 15772 - lock button is flashing - dishwasher will not start. Can you help me?

6/3 I bought a Kenmore Ultra Wash dishwasher, Model 665. As many others have posted, my dishwasher also do does not automatically drain, leaving about 3" of water in the bottom of the machine. The only way to pump the water from the machine is to use the Drain/Cancel button, which cancels the cycle, and the dry option, leaving the dishes wet and spotty.

I just contacted a tech rep with Sears Repair and was told this is a Factory Defect with this model. Whirlpool (manufacturer) is aware of the problem and working on a resolution. Meanwhile, Whirlpool (via Sears and K-Mart) offers a free service call to install the "retrofit kit" that should solve the problem.

Even though Sears is aware of this problem, you will be expected to jump through their hoops - did you install a disposal at the same time and knock out the plug (FYI - if the plug is not knocked out, the Drain/Cancel option will not work and the machine will not drain at all). They will also ask if there is anything blocking the drain (FYI - if there is a foreign material block of any kind, the Drain/Cancel option will not work and the machine will not drain.

If this dishwasher (Model 665) does not drain automatically, THIS IS A FACTORY DEFECT. A retrofit kit is available to correct. In the DC Metro area, the wait time for an in home service call is three weeks.

If you have this problem, call Sears 1-800-4MY HOME and schedule a FREE retrofit kit installation

ALSO, call your sales person, and the appliance dept manager, at the store where you purchased the appliance to let them know this product is defective.

The problem is your water inlet valve.

If you remove the panel at the bottom of the dishwasher you will see either a copper hard pipe, or a flexible steel hose leading into the water inlet valve.

BE SURE TO CUT OFF THE WATER SUPPLY. It is probably located under the kitchen sink- just follow the water line until you see a cutoff handle.

Now (or first, if you prefer) cut off the power to the dishwasher, or if possible, unplug it. The valve is activated by an electromagnet (called a solenoid)- carefully remove the plug from the side of the solenoid (its best to use pliers so that you don't accidentally yank the wires out of the plug) on the valve.

Now, loosen the nut that connects the water line to the valve (a small adjustable wrench works best, but it's a tight space, so be patient.) disconnect the water supply hose and remove the valve.

Check and see if the screen (just inside where the water supply line connects to the valve) is clogged with limescale. If it is, you can clean it out fairly well with CLR or Limeaway, and that might fix your problem. If it doesn't you can order a new one online, or take it to an appliance parts store if there is one in your area. They are pretty common. If you do order it online, be sure to look it up using the model number of your unit (usually on a sticker on the inside of the door. Different models might use sightly diffferent valves depending on where under the machine they are attached.

Good Luck!

Kenmore Dishwasher 17369 not thoroughly cleaning

The first is to look for filters and drains to clean. Also check out the jets, as sometimes these can be clogged farther back than you can see with a quick inspections. You can likely remove them and take a good look. Secondly, you may want to switch detergents. Perhaps the quality of the water you are using has changed, hard water build up or you have changed detergents. You have to find the right detergent for the kind of water you are using, especially if you don't have a water softener. where the filter in the bottom of the dishwasher needed cleaning out. Just take the screws out, pull the plastic filter out and clean. Hope this helps. Report

My dishwasher won't drain

It is possible that it ran thru the entire cycle but was unable to drain teh waste water ( usually the result of a clogged filter screen in the bottom of your dishwasher).. I suggest you either hand bail the water out and look for the drain filter screen or check where the drain hose is hooked up under your sink and possibly into the side of a garbage disposal..That could be clogged up too... Hope that helps...
