I have a Sony Trinitron Tube Tv...45 inch..one day it just won't turn on. Is this possibly a fuse or power issue...or would it be the picture tube? Is it worth repairing? Thanks for your help

Hello jorge and welcome to FixYa. With your particular model of television six blinks mean a Horizontal Drive Failure has occurred. If you have any television repair experience you could try checking the jungle for loose or possibly bad soldering. In some case the jungle IC was found to be defective on this model as well. You should also inspect the horizontal drive transformer windings if at all possible. If you are unable to repair this yourself I would personally say to you no it is not worth the cost to repair it as purchasing a new television would probaly be a more prudent decision. I hope you found this helpful and thank you for visiting FixYa.

Sony FD Trinitron WEGA KV-34HS420 34" TV Last week the picture on the left and right of the screen started to go purple. It was about 2 inches from the outside that it did it. It went back to...

It is most likely a degaussing issue - replace the PTC thermistor (this is usually a 3-pin device located near the fuse in the power supply board; each has a different part number for different TV models and tube sizes) - check for dry solder joints on it first though, if they are intact, note the part number, as well as its reference on the PCB, order a replacement, fit it (they usually only fit one way on the board). I doubt this model uses electronic degaussing so the part itself should be easy enough to get hold of.

It might also be a good idea to borrow an electric degaussing wand from a workshop as well if you can, to fully remove the extraneous magnetic fields around the tube. This should hopefully solve your purity problem.

My sony TV trinitron wega 42 inch picture is red. Is there any solution to remove the problem?

The problem with your TV trinitron wega is at the color adjustment section. It is located at the color board mounted at the back of the picture tube. There are variable resistors that represents the color pattern in the picture tube. Adjust the red color to low level to lower the red color.

Sony Wega 32 inch tube TV buzzes when turned on and then shuts itself off. If you turn it on several times the picture will stal on

look likes E H T problem. Watch the rear of the TV. If you find blue arc anywhere, you have to check that component. Take care while handling the E H T side near the picture tube.

Even if the TV is disconnected there me dangerous voltage present in the E H T connecting point of the picture tube body. Take service center help.

Tv keeps turning itself off and the white in the picture looks alittle off.

To get the right colors, especially a plain white, requires the right mix of red, green and blue from the picture tube. Sony TV sets have a circuit called AKB that automatically keeps the picture tube balanced by adjusting the signals to it. If that balance can't be achieved it shuts off the picture. This may due to tube aging so one of the color guns is too weak to adjust, or failure of parts in the AKB circuit itself. If the sound stays on and the power light starts blinking when the picture goes off, this is likely why.

On the other hand, if the set is turning off completely with no picture, sound or power light, the set may have power supply problems or defective parts in the picture tube high voltage circuits.

Since there are several possible causes, this set needs to be checked by a technician who can diagnose the problem and decide what needs to be done. It's not a simple thing I can point to and say "change this part". If the picture tube is the cause, it's better to replace the set. Otherwise get an estimate, then decide whether to fix or replace.

Picture was great day before, next day picture would not come on.

I had the exact problem. Turned it off at night, next day nothing. Set is KV32FV16, manuf. in 2000. Repair tech. found bad fuse that was all, set now working. Fuse located in lower right hand side of chassis. Fuse appeared to have deteriorated rather than blown. Good luck.

Sony trinitron television , when you turn on it takes awhile for the picture to come up on screen and when it does the screen constantly blinks

Three possibilities
First it sounds like your Tube EHT ( Extra High Tension) power supply is failing.
CRT TVs need a high voltage around 30K for the tube to work. Whcih is generated in the set, if you hear clicking sound like arcking this will confirm it. Unless you are familiar with HV electronics you should not attempt to fix it since it can be dangerous.
Second possibility is the picture tube is failing.
Third possibility is there is some problem with the video circuits, to check this try connecting a VCR or a DVD to see if the picture is OK. If it is, the problem is in the video circuits.

Sony Trinitron TV now taking around 5 minutes for picture to appear (sound comes on instantly) Is it worth repair or should I cut losses and replace set?

How old is the TV?
Sony Trinitron sounds like it may be from the 1980's?
Some TV engineers can use a piece of equipment to do a "tube boost" but this is sometimes risky and can completely ruin the tube, but it's a risk you would have to take.
If the TV is over 15 years old, and has been used regularly, (like 4 hours every day or more) it seems likely that the tube has reached the end of life.
TV cathode ray tubes are like light bulbs...they do not last forever!

Sony trinitron

check the heater as your tv is ON, there must be a yellow light at the rear of the CRT tube. If the heater is ok then check the IC jungle side. resoldering the leads sometimes will solve. If not refer to your local Tech.

Sony Trinitron - Picture Disappears

Hi, IK circuit is engaging which basically means the picture tube is getting tired, the only "fix" is temporary (may get another year out of it). You have to increase the "screen control clockwise".
Remove back of set, follow large black or red wire attatched to picture tube down to the flyback transformer, mounted on flyback are two black controls, one is focus (leave it alone) the other is "screen", adjust it clockwise approx. 1/4 inch, remember that this is a high voltage circuit so use one hand in the set the other hand out of the set at all times, any questions ? e-mail me back, good luck, BMW Rider

Sony 27"TV will not turn on

The picture tube on your tv is dead, you need to replace it. It probably will be worthing just purchasing a new set, because the cost of repairing it will be close to the purchase of a new one.
