Question about Computers & Internet

I have an older Belkin surge protector model F5C510. The outlets backed up by a battery do not work. I replaced the batteries and they still do not work. What's the problem?

The reset button is already in the down position and the other outlets work. It is only the battery backup outlets that do not work.
I have pushed the reset with nothing connected and held it for 15 seconds and nothing happens.
The battery holds 12 V and it is new.

Press the Circuit Breaker Reset button (recessed for safety) as noted in the picture on page 1 of THIS MANUAL

15 amp Circuit Breaker - Located above the main power switch and recessed for safety. If ReSource® is overloaded it will
trigger this circuit breaker and disconnect power. To restore power simply unplug one piece of equipment and push the circuit
breaker button in. Your ReSource® should stay powered. If not, consult the Amperage ratings on the connected devices and
confirm that they do not exceed 15 amps total. Usually computers are 1-4 amps, fax machines 1-3, and most devices are
below 2. You should not have a problem plugging in all your devices.

Too many resets can cause the breaker to fail. If it will not stay in the IN detent position the breaker needs replacement.

plug in an item - then disconnect the power from the wall.

If the outlets do not come on - the internal switching relay has failed.

How do i Fix New Nonworking Belkin 8 outlet surge protector? Plugged in once, tripped the circuit breaker, now doesn;t work at all.

Hi
The link you mention relates to Belkin's range of computer cards and network equipment. The drivers on this site will not help you at all since the Surge Protector is related only to the power supply to your machine. Its purpose is to prevent surges and dips in the electrical supply that might be harmful getting to your electronic equipment and damaging it. They require no drivers and have no means of applying them either.
If it blew the circuit breaker the first time you used it, and it doesn't work - anywhere - then its faulty. You mention that it is new, therefore don't make any attempt to repair it, open it or anything, just take it back to where you bought for replacement, since it was clearly not of "merchantable quality".
Hope this is helpful, if so would you please register that with Fixya
Cheers

Wont turn on

1.Plug the Inspiron's AC power cord into a power outlet and try to power on the laptop again. By far the most common cause of a laptop's not powering on is a dead battery.
2.Plug the AC adapter into a different outlet to check for a "dead" outlet. If you have the cable plugged into a surge protector, plug the cord into a different slot on the surge protector or "bypass" the surge protector by plugging the cable into an electrical outlet. If the Inspiron now powers on, replace the surge protector or have an electrician examine any "dead" outlets in the home.
3.Open the battery bay on the underside of the Inspiron by sliding the battery bay latch release lock upward and the battery bay latch release to the right. Once both latches are released, the battery bay should open.
4.Remove the battery.
5.Purchase a compatible replacement battery for laptop. Be aware that using an incompatible battery can cause damage to your computer. If you have any doubt as to compatibility, the best option is to purchase the replacement battery directly from your laptop's manufacturer.
6.Install the new battery by following the battery-removal procedure in reverse order. Once the new battery is installed, try again to power on the laptop. If there is still no power, seek professional repair advice.

I hope you find it very helpful.

Has no power

1. Check to see if there is an on/off switch on the router. If there is then turn the router on.
2. If it doesn't have a switch or you've turned it on and nothing happens then you should check your
wall outlet to make sure you have power. You can test it by plugging in a lamp or other small electrical
device.
3. If the outlet is working, check your surge protector (If you are using one.) the same way you checked
the wall outlet.
4. If the surge protector is working, then check the wiring of the router power supply. Look for any
damage like nicks or breaks in the plastic shielding. If it is damaged it will need to be replaced. These
can be purchased at electronics stores like Radio Shack. They may be available at Belkin.
5. If there is no damage you have a few choices to make:
a. Replace the power cable. This may or may not solve your problem but if it doesn't work with a new
power supply then the router itself is defective/broken.
b. Return the router for repair or replacement. If you have a valid warrenty then this is a good choice
otherwise you will have to pay for the repair/replacement.
c. Purchase a new router. If this is an older router, over 2 or 3 years old, it may be a good time to
upgrade.

Plug it in and nothing happens. no lights or noise. The two surge protection outlets draw power, the other six don't.

Unplug the surge protector (and all units plugged into it) and take it apart - you'll see how the outlets are connected to provide a closed circuit when on. Make sure all connections are secure and carefully put the unit back together.
You should be able to use all units plugged into it.

Dynex Te685avr backup battery doesnt work

If the battery outlets do not work, typically the Dynex TE685AVR UPS (battery backup) just needs a new battery. These batteries usually last 3-5 years.

The model of the battery is a WKA12-7.5F2 and can be purchased at: http://www.replacementupsbattery.com/Product_pages/wka12-75f2.html.
