GE side-by-side PS123SGMD BS won't cool

I have a GE side-by-side PS123SGMD BS refrigerator. Power is on, but I hear nothing. The freezer temp is 22 and the frig temp is 44. When I push the buttons to reset the temps, they go to 0 and 37 respectively, but nothing happens. It does not cool.

Please help.

Are your actual temperatures 22* and 44*, or is the thermostat set at 22* and 44*?

Check the door seals to be sure they are in good working order. Close both doors on a dollar bill at several locations all around the door and pull on the dollar bill. You should have resistance as you pull it out in every area you check. If you have any gapped areas and it slides easily, adjust the door or replace the seals. Also, is the circulation fan in the freezer working correctly? Lastly, unplug the unit for 5 minutes to allow the control module to reset itsef. Then plug it in again and reset your temps, clock etc.

Setting temp.is not correct working.

Look on the rear back panel of the freezer and see if there is a layer of frost building up. If yes you will need to unplug and remove the rear panel in freezer and defrost with a hair dryer. Once defrosted we need to inspect the defrost heater and defrost thermostat. I tried to find your model but I think maybe the number may be incorrect. The model number above your post will work but the one on your post will not. Anyway your refrigerator has a defrost problem and I will wait for the correct number so I can tell you better of what to look for. Let me know, Thanks Sea Breeze

Layer of frost on the bottom surface of ice maker

during periods of high humidity and or high use, it is not unusual to notice frost on surfaces in the freezer. the ICM is susceptible due to it being metal and having warm(compared to freezer temp) water in it. make sure the doors ar closed tight and nothing is stuck in the gasket area.

There is a timer that determines the defrost of the cooling coil inside the back wall of the freezer. defrost timer may be located in the area of the controls for temperature. Look for a hole in that area and recessed in that hole you may find a clutch head screw. Turn this screw clockwise very SLOWLY until you hear one click. The freezer coil will be in the defrost mode for 18-22 minutes and then the refrigerator should return to the cooling mode. Make sure the condenser is clean and free of dust and dirt. Condenser is where the heat is removed from the refrigeration system and on most models it is located in back behind a removable panel. Reinstall the panel after cleaning the condenser.
