Yes. Every 12-14 hours your refrigerator goes through an automatic defrost to clear the ice from the evaporator. The hissing sound your hearing is the water dripping on to a burning hot element.

Hissing may be air rushing into the cooling (contracting air mass) inside the air box after door closing. The leaking is all the extra water being removed from that outside air intruding into the compartment because of a leaking door seal.

There is a k nob at under the fridge that is hissing and leaking water...


While defrosting, the water on heat element making sucha hissing sound. No need to worry about it. Please check the drain pipe is plugged with ice or food debris or dusty. That is the common reason for water leak. To help to solv the water leak, follow this video. Thanks.

Your fridge is fine it was in defrost mode during this an element heats up to melt any frost and ice in the freezer. But yes the hissing sound does sound alarming but is perfectly normal. hope you have a nice day

Water / hissing noice


Sounds like the water-supply fitting/connection going into the icemaker is leaking. It needs to be removed and fitting/hose tightened/repaired/etc.
