My Swingline 211xx paper detector/sensor no longer works, and there is no manual stapling option. I tried spraying compressed air all over to remove any dust, but that didn't help.

SOURCE: Staples penetrate, but do not bend

If you unscrew 4 bottom screws to lift the top cover, you may find out that there are 2 orange rubbers above its hammer that broke and needs to be replaced.

Turn the stapler over, remove the batteries, then remove the black pads and the four screwa under them. Take off the bottom cover and you will see the clear tabs of the cover sticking through the bottom plate. Pust them with a screwdriver toward the center of the stapler while squeezing the cover from the other side. Chances are that you will find the plunger that drives the staples is misaligned. Bend it gently forward or back until it moves without binding. Good Luck!

Swingline optima 40 how do you open and close the stapler?

Swingline heavy duty staplers provide the power to staple up to 120 pages of 20-lb. paper easily and consistently. The all-metal construction of these staplers makes them an indispensible office tool. However, the way to load staples into a Swingline heavy duty stapler differs from the method for loading most other manual staplers and can cause a little confusion.
Difficulty:Easy Instructions

    • 1 Remove the follow block at the back of the stapler by pushing the mechanism in, lifting the block up over the holding hooks and sliding it out from the stapler. The follow block is the spring-loaded mechanism that holds the staples in place within the stapler.
    • 2 Load the heavy-duty staples into the staple tray.
    • 3 Replace the follow block by inserting it back into the stapler and locking it into place over the holding hooks.
