On the botton left-hand corner of the page, there's a little box that says what language you're currently in. Click on it to see what other languages you can change it to Hope this helps you

This will bring you to a screen with 3 items; VOICE, TEXT LANGUAGE and KEYBOARD
Press VOICE and select the voice of a person from an English speaking country
On the page that shows WHERE TO and VIEW MAP press TOOLS (The spanner symbol) in the bottom right corner
Press SETTINGS (the spanner symbol) or LOCALE (the blue symbol) on models that don't have a settings icon
Press LANGUAGE (the lips icon)
This brings you to a screen with 3 items on it. VOICE, TEXT LANGUAGE and KEYBOARD If it's in French you won't know which is which but it will show the language beside the TEXT LANGUAGE icon. Francais is the French word for French. To change the voice language press VOICE and select an English speaking name. To change the text language press TEXT LANGUAGE and select English or American English if you're in the USA.
Not knowing what language you are in go into setup and there should be an icon of lips with a speech balloon over it. Change it to a British English and voice. they are on the same options. Reason for British English is that it will be in two words such as Anglais Angleterre or Anglais UK in French or similar in other languages.. There should also be an Anglais US.
You cannot do damage if you pick the wrong language such as Zulu. Just more frustration.
Basically: 'Change preference' (look for Spanner image Icon) -> Scroll right Arrow until 'Change language' (look for Flags image Icon) -> Select English -> Select an English Voice
