The copiers have some errors you can fix yourself. But as soon as it says call for service, you should call for service. The fix that is needed, can cause serious damage, if performed by a person who did not learn how to open certain part from a copier and or printer.
Most of the time, when users start "repairing" their copier, it ends in a disaster. The service technician also won't be pleased when he has to repair the error and the extra stuff caused by a person who only tried to help.
Really, when the normal procedure does not help. call the tech.
