Question about Denon DVD-3800 DVD Player

1 Answer

Warm discs. Not playing some zone 2 discs.

Hi my DVD 3800 is the same - techs say this is normal but later players have vented chassis. The front plate above the drawer is slightly discolored from the heat. Have had mine sitting directly on top of the amp but in an open cabinet. Have also just had the laser replaced and techs suggest the higher heat maybe contributing to the laser and signal cable needing replacement.
The player has stopped playing some zone 2 discs which it used to play. Replacing the laser has not fixed this.

The Techs tested the unit and replaced the new laser. This fixed the problem. I am sitting the player further above the amp as well.

probably you are trying to play a disc that is not zone free or you need a code for your player to make it zone free. you may be playing a zone 2 disc ( PAL) on a machine that only takes zone 1 (NTSC) or vica-versa.

I am looking for region 2 zone unlocking code

Hi and welcome kurt_lund ,
If you only want to change the region code because you have moved to another zone ,or you need to play external zone discs , do this , in order to give your player access to them :
Go to the Device manager , look for the DVD / CDRom Drives , double clic on the player's name and go to DVD Region .
If you intend to definitely unlock your device , this could help :

I need to hack the region of the Sony DVD SR500H

Hi there

Follow these steps and your dvd will be able to play discs from any region.

*With the player in stand-by mode (take out any discs and leave it alone for several minutes) press on the remote, in this order: TOP MENU, CLEAR, POWER.

*A menu will appear with several options. Choose Option 2 and then Option 4.

*Type 12450, press enter, then type 00000.
  • Step 4 After the tray opens and closes repeatedly (this is normal), unplug the unit, then plug it back in and turn it on.

Put in a DVD, and it won't recognize it says "no disc". Disconnected from power outlet, waited 1 minute, reconnected...still doesnt work. Tried several DVDs without success.

    Hi there,

This could be caused by several problems:
    1) The DVD's that you are playing are formatted for a zone that is different to that of the DVD player. You can find which zone your DVD is by looking on the back of the DVD case near the bottom, there you will find an image that looks like this:
    547e52a.jpg
Try using a disc that was bought in the same country as the DVD player (make sure that the DVD is not counterfeit/fake). Here is a map of codes, in which ever country you bought the DVD player, the number that is located with it is the only code that will work with that DVD player.

If these DVD's are of the same zone of that of the DVD player and have worked properly, please go to solution 2 bellow.

    2) The DVD players lens could be dirty which means that it will not read the disc. To solve this problem you can purchase a DVD Lens Cleaning Kit, these are available online, you can buy one from eBay by following this link: Click Here ($4.89) If you have already cleaned the lens and the problem still persists, please go to solution 3 bellow.

    3) If the problem still persists, it is caused by a faulty Disc Reader or DVD Rom. You can take the DVD player back to the supplier and get them to replace the DVD Rom. If you DVD player is still under warranty, they will replace it free of charge.

Thank you for using FixYa! Have a nice day and please remember to rate this solution.

    Warm regards,

I insert a disc. It loads, then either 1 or 2 shows in the display, but nothing functions and the disc will not play. It is a region 2 disc I tried

\usually when a disc won`t play ,it just displays "No Disc".

Is the disc matching the dvd code?
    Is the region code correct?
Have you checked what discs the dvd will play, in front of manual.

If those are ok the dvd must have condensation in it.
Place in a warm room, turn on and leave for 2-3 hrs
Then try again fingers crossed for you.

Dvd player says no disc when there is a dvd inserted

This sounds like this has got moisture in the dvd.
Best thing to do is bring it into a warm room ,plug it in and wait for 2-3 hrs then try again.

Also must say as well make sure your dvd has the correct region and is playing the correct type of dvd(usually lists in the front of your manual),is the disc finalised?

    fingers crossed!

    Wrong region

Hi , The reason for the error message is because your DVD player is set to one specific zone. The below procesure will open the DVD player to play all zones.
    TURN ON THE PLAYER
    PRESS OPEN/CLOSE
    USING REMOTE PRESS STOP-7-3-4-4-6-6
YOUR REGION AREA WILL APPEAR. PRESS "0" TO UNLOCK (OPEN the DVD player to ALL zones) ALL, THEN WAIT. INSERT YOUR DISC. Hope this helps. Let me know the status. Thanks, Mike
