Question about Maytag (MFI2568AEW) Bottom Freezer French Door Refrigerator

2 Answers

Hi, I have a MFI2568AEB and I think I've broken the door. The little plastic hinge on the top left door that attaches that skinny door flap to the larger part of the door has broken. I've tried to glue it back together but that really didn't work at all. Can I just get a new door maybe?

Okay, I'm not very technical, but I'll try to describe it better than I did. I wish I could draw you a picture. But at the top of the left door, if you're facing the refrigerator with the left door open, there are three hinges that attach the movable flap thingee to the door. The top plastic hinge has cracked and broken where it attaches to the left door. The piece that has broken is a square shaped plastic piece that seemed to slide over and fit onto another square shaped plastic piece attached to the door. Those hinges are what allows the flap thingee to move back and forth as you open and shut the door. I wish I had better terms for these. I'm sorry.

My thingee broke too and I super-glued it back in place. It's been about 2 years and it's still holding. The broken piece fell into my cup when I was getting ice. If you don't have your broken piece, perhaps a new assembly will be needed. Good luck!

Need a better clarification of the part you need . The whole door should not have to be replaced .

How do i change the door so it opens from the right

Check the top and bottom of your fridge door at the furthest edge from the hinge. Do you see a plastic plug/insert, usually round that looks like they can be levered out with a thin blade? These cover holes that a hinge pin can be inserted into. At the hinge side (top and bottom in the same position as the aforementioned plug/insert) is where the hinge is attached to the door. If you remove the hinges from the fridge they should then come away from the door and you can swap them over to the other side and replace the plug/insert in the holes left where the hinge pins were originally fitted. The door should then be fitted to the other side of the fridge in holes similarly covered by a cap that you put in the holes left where the hinge was fixed.
I hope that makes sense, because I've just read it and confused myself I think.. ;)

MF4350d gives a paper jam error when it has no paper in it.

I hired a technician who came to house and showed me where the paper jam was hidden... found technician on craigslist for $50 flat rate, came out on Saturday. He solved the paper jam problem in 20 minutes. One place to check for paper jam you cannot see until to look behind a hinged plastic flap above the cartridge area. Remove cartridge.Above the cartridge area is a width-wide plastic piece, about 1 to 1 1/2 inch wide from top to bottom, hindged along the top edge, moves but is attached along the two lower corners of the piece by small springs (one at each corner) to the housing of the machine. You cannot easily lift the plastic flap up to look behind it for paper jam until you remove the springs. I used forceps to remove them. Tweezers may work. Don't lose them! Once you remove the springs you can easily lift up the plastic flap (it is hinged) and look behind it into the crevices for any paper. That is where we found a small piece of paper. We needed a skinny forceps to reach into the crevice to get the paper out.

Dometic rm2804 door hinges are worn and plastic strip retainer is broken off. On the lower door the hinge pins fit into round metal guides. In turn, the metal guides are held in place on the door corners...

I had this problem. I reversed the decorative plastic strips, both ends of the strip have hinge pin holes, so the doors can open left or right. I put the TOP decorative plastic strip on the bottom and BOTTOM on top.

Dishwasher not washing dishes properly

Thanks akubra_lands, it worked for me too on model DW28W. I thought I should elaborate on your answer for anyone else who comes across this while researching the same problem.
The repair is ridiculously simple (takes about 10min) and the only tools needed are 1 philips/posidrive screwdriver and 1 flat blade screwdriver. Assuming you've unplugged it from mains power:
  1. Tip the dishwasher on its right hand side (looking from the front).
  2. Remove 4 screws from the metal base - 2 front and 2 rear (the rear ones have anti-rattle washers on them).
  3. Pull the base away, taking care of the pair of wires leading to the flood indicator float switch which is still attached to the base.
  4. Remove all 4 screws which fasten the solenoid valve to the pipe which leads from the pump upwards to the center of the tank (which feeds the lower spray arm).
  5. Pull the solenoid/valve body off the pipe and you will see it has a whitish plastic flap with a hinge at the top end.
  6. Use the flat blade screwdriver to gently prize open one side of the flap hinge and twist the flap until it is completely free of the valve body. Put the flap to one side.
  7. Replace the valve body, without the flap, and secure all 4 screws.
  8. Reassemble the dishwasher. Done
Now take a moment to admire the handiwork of the engineer who planned the failure of that innocent little plastic flap around 6 months after the expiry of the warranty.
I actually had a repair man come and look at the problem, and yep, right on cue, he told me it needed a new pump motor. $300. When he realised I was on to him he just gave up. So hard for repair people to do an honest day's work these days..

Bottom hinge on fridge door broken

Yes, there is supposed to be a plastic bushing/washer under there. Usually 1/8 inch thick. If a dealer is not handy you may cut some out of plastic to put there. Then undo the top hinge, and carefully lift the door off (you might want to empty the shelfs). Put your spacer on the hinge pin, and replace the door and the top hinge.
