Question about Optiquest Q 71 17" CRT Monitor
I have upgraded a W95 station to W98 but it stubbornly refuses to do any better than 16 colours @640*480 It has an AOpen MX59 Pro motherboard but I have failed totally to find a driver which raises the performance to SVGA, which it was before installing W98. I have tried windows update which provided an AC97 sound driver but the Aopen and VIA websites do not seem to have a driver which will solve this problem. Monitor is an LG Studioworks 560N and quite capable of better, it seems I need an inf file rather than the default monitor.inf which W98 finds. I have tried all sorts of googled driver sites, does anyone have any advice on how to solve this. TIA David Thomas no more then 16 color@600*480
A 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

SOURCE: no sound
Is there a rca/headphone jack for the monitor? Make sure that the jack is plugged into the computer's audio out rca jack. A driver should not be needed for the audio on the monitor. If the jack is plugged in make sure that the audio is not muted on the computer. Right click on the speaker icon in the right bottom of the screen on the windows tray nand open the sound mixer. Make sure all the sounds are on. Then check the monitor settings and make sure the sound is on and not muted thru the monitor buttons. If the cable is good and all these things are ok then the internal sound amp in the monitor might be bad.
