Sounds like you need to clean the surface of the disc and check if there are scratches on the surfaces if others are fine this one must be damagednuse a disc cleaner like skip doctor or some brasso and a soft cloth

Wont play

If its not a power problem, notice that the servo motor is spinning or trying to spin with a disc in the tray.
-listen carefully for a high pitch or whinning sound of the motor.
-do you have a reading on the screen? No disc or reading disc?

One of the above can be:
1- a defective laser (it wont illuminate)
2- a broken flat cable to the laser (you wont hear clicking sound when reading)
3- a bad servo motor that can not reach its speed to read the disc (has to spin at a very high speed)

Hope you can solve the problem, succes

My ps2 wont read the disk. says there is no data. help

it's your laser with something like dust keeping it from reading the discs. Just get a simple CD cleaner kit, one that has the little brush on it and then of course put some solution on it. Rubbing alchol will due. This happens to everyone eventually.

Should do the trick.

If it doesn't do it after playing the cleaning disk three times for around 10 secs each, then you may want to open it up and put clean the laser lens directly with a rubbing alchol soaked que tip and a dry one. For more instructions on how to open it do a search on fixya and there is one guru who goes into great detail about this.

Prism DVD-352P not loading any disks

What you are hearing is the attempt to read the disk. The unti detects that a disc is present and attempts to read it by spinning it first at CD speeds then at DVD speeds. It will attempt this a number of times before giving up and reporting "no disc". If you can get at the optics, try cleaning the lens using a cotton swab and alcohol. Next try to read a CD. If you can read a music CD and not a DVD, it indicates that the optics are starting to fail and need to be replaced.

When playing cd player , cd rotates angle of 5 degrees clockwise

Hi there

It is probable that you will have a faulty spindle motor if the disc wont spin up to speed. Have you been able to give the disc a kick start to get it to read. The disk also has to spin the fastest when reading the table of contents after the disc is first loaded. Sometimes when the suspension rubbers to the laser fail, the disc may also be catching on parts of the mechanism preventing it from spinning up to speed. Can you give me a little more about how the problem is occurring, particularly what noises you hear, and whether you can kick start the disc to spin. I have plenty of experience repairing these players, and am happy to answer any questions you may have about it. Cheers

Coby TF-DVD7100 7" portable flat screen...keep getting "Wrong Disc" Error

I have seen this problem on several Yamada & Xoro brand DVD players. If you remove the lid after powering down with the disc tray closed and a disc in it you may well find the ribbon cable to the read head is rubbing on the disc. The ribbon cable is held to the base of the box by a sticky pad under a 45 degree bend in it and a piece of sticky tape !!!. Power up unit, open disk tray, power it down, retape cable to base securely with small strips of duct or gaffer tape (using tweezers helps) and hey presto it will work again. The cable rubbing slows the disk spin speed hence "data read error" unit assumes "bad/faulty/wrong type of disk". All that technology screwed up by using a cheap bit of tape in the factory assembly, amazing eh !.

Wont start up

Hello rfb640,

This is Romeet, i would like to help you with this problem. Please go into the BIOS and check if the hard disk is detected? if it is then remove the hard disk from the laptop and turn on, check if you get any error message for " disk boot failure" or something of that effect or you continue recieving the white cursor?
