Have you tried to purge the memory? To delete the files in memory:

(I found this at: http://safemanuals.com/annexe_MX310%20series%20Easy%20Setup%20Instructions_CANON_PIXMA%20MX310-_E.htm
)

Printing or Deleting a Document in Memory
1
Press the FAX button, then press the Menu button.
2 Press the [ or ] button to select MEMORY REFERENCE.
3 Press the OK button.

If you'd like to print from memory (I think you already know how,but just in case):

Printing a List of Documents in Memory
The machine can print a list of documents stored in memory (the memory list) showing the
transaction number (TX/RX NO.), transaction mode, recipient, number of pages, date, and
transmission time of each document. When printing or deleting documents in memory, specify a
document by its transaction number.
1 Press the FAX button, then press the Menu button.
2 Press the [ or ] button to select MEMORY REFERENCE.
3 Press the OK button two times.
The memory list is printed.

Hope this helps!

I have a separate fax line for my Canon MX310. It goes into fax mode but noting happens. I also cannot receive faxes.

The only reason to call the phone company is if you're not getting a dial tone on that line. Otherwise, have you shut down the printer and tried to reset it to factory defaults. To do that, follow the instructions below:
  • 1 Switch the Canon MX310 off using the "Power" button, then push the "Stop/Reset" button on the control panel. Hold the button down for about five seconds.
  • 2 Push the "Power" button while holding "Stop/Reset." Hold down both buttons for five seconds.
  • 3 Release "Stop/Reset" while holding down the "Power" button.
  • 4 Push "Stop/Reset" twice while continuing to hold the "Power" button. Release the "Power" button. The power light will turn green.
  • 5 Once the light is steady green, push "Stop/Reset." Wait about three seconds and push it again. Wait three more seconds and push it one final time, for a total of three times. The power light will turn orange.
  • 6 Push the "Power" button, then lift the MX310 cover open.
  • 7 Remove both ink cartridges and wait 10 seconds. Replace the cartridges and close the MX310 cover. Wait 30 seconds.
  • 8 Push the "Power" button. Wait a few seconds to allow the printer to fully power down, then switch the Canon MX310 back on using the "Power" button.

Canon mx310 says there is a pper jam but I cannot see where the paper is stuck

feed a piece of paper threw and eject it out the other side, then if that fails, try opening and closing the units back, their should be a panel that can be pulled out or opened. check that nothing is obstructing the area, and follow the path of the paper with your eyes, you'll see if anything is out of place. also a simple power down completely unplug unit and plug back in will help.

You have the fax setting to use memory or no paper loaded.
Go to the fax menu and change it to print.

Beeps when I plug in power

Sounds terminal. The good thing is that machine would have to be under 12 months old. So it is under warranty. I would advise you to get it repaired under warranty as it would be to expensive otherwise.
