Connecting a passive subwoofer to a denon 2113

you need another reciever/amp to power that sub, because that denon reciever is designed for a powered sub,. if you have another old reciever/amp laying around, you can connect the sub out from the denon into an auxillary input of any old reciever/amp, (switched to that input) with speaker wires from old reciever/amp to the passive sub

How do i connect my reciver to my lcd hdtv so the audio is coming from my speakers not the tv speakers.

kindly get four audio RF connection wires look for the audio output on the front or back of your tv. one of the output connection is white the other is red.look for the same connectors on your reciever the same colour.but they are marked input.plug the output wires from your tv to the input connection of your reciever.if you have separate speakers, connect the speaker wires from the output connectors of your reciever so you can get sound comming from your tv through your reciever, good luck.

Can I hook these directly to my TV

No. The jacks on the back of your tv are line level. That means no power. To get the power, you need a reciever. Red and white RCA wires will go from your tv's out and the other end to an input on your reciever, and your speaker will be wired to the speaker out jacks on your reciever.

My denon avr1200 receiver once it is turned on goes into Protection mode. How do you reset or make work?

The reciever will go into protection mode when there is a short in the speaker wires or the amplifier was overloaded. What I would do first is verify that none of the speaker wire connections are loose at the back of the reciever or at each speaker. And verify that none of the wires are making contact with each other. Then label each speaker wire as you remove them from the reciever so you can re-install them correctly. After you have disconnected the speaker wires try unplugging the reciever for 10 to 15 minutes. Most recievers have a self-resetting overload protection switch and this should reset it back to normal. Now try plugging the reciever back in and turn it on without the speaker wires connected. It should be out of protection mode now. If it is still in protection mode verify that there is not a reset switch somewhere on the back of the reciever. If it is not in protection mode now then proceed to connect one speaker set at a time and turn on the reciever to see if it goes into protection mode. If it goes into that mode after connecting a speaker then that speaker is the cause of the problem. If it does not go into the mode after all speakers are connected then try turning the volume up. If it goes into protection mode then there could be an internal short on the amplifier or a incorrect OHM rated speakers connected to reciever. Verify that the speakers are rated the correct OHMS.

Protect displaying

Protect on any reciever usually means that it has reached its maximum capacity of volume (known as clipping) and at the reciever is now automatically reducing the volume to avoid damage. This some times is triggered if the reciever was used hard and is now damaged so you would need to bring it to a repair shop. Sometimes its caused by a bad wire to the speakers, a short to say. Check all your wiring, make sure its not overheating and getting plenty of air. Some where its recieving a signal telling it to go into protect mode.

Bottom lights do not turn off

If you have a remote for the fan and light, then it makes sense that only one wall switch operates as a master switch. Then as far as why the remote doesn't operate the lower light, the question I would have is whether the remote you have for the new fan came with it or not? If the remote you have has a button for the upper light and a button for the lower light, then you need to make sure that the reciever in the fan has wires for both lights. On the receiver there should be a black and white for the power and neutral coming from the switch. Then there will be a white wire for the neutral to the fan, a black wire going to the fan, and probably a blue wire for one of the lights. If there is another wire on that reciever (it may be orange or some other color) that would be the wire for the other light. That would be simple... four wires from the fan to four wires coming off the reciever. What you might have is four wires coming from the fan, and three wires (other than the black and white which connect to the wires from the switch) coming from your reciever. The way around that is to connect the two lighting wires from the fan to the one lighting wire from the reciever. Then when you press one of the light buttons on the remote, the upper and lower lights will always come on together. The other possibility is that there is a problem with the lower light kit itself. I would first check the wiring inside the canopy of the fan where the receiver most likely is.
