Question about Sony Grand WEGA KF50WE610 50" Rear Projection HDTV-Ready Television

2 Answers

Green Screen? We have a Sony Grand Wega KF50WE610 since 2004. We turned on the television this evening and the picture is completely green. We tried other tv's in our house to see if it was a wiring problem along with a DVD and everything seems fine, but the Grand Wega. All the inputs as well. Have you experienced anything like this before? Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Green Screen?

I know that this may sound simple but try unplugging the power from the unit for about 60 sec. I had the same thing happen to me except everything was blue. Once I unplugged it to reset it I plugged it back in and everything worked fine :)

Re: Green Screen?

Intermittently displays bright red/green/blue raster then shuts down with led flashing 2, 4 or 5 times
Amazingly this was due to the CRT being faulty !
Red or Green or Blue screen
Check and replace on crt module : D702, D703, D704 (all 1N4148) replace with type 1N4948T

  1. If your Sony Wega will not turn on, the front green light blinks, you hear a faint whirring sound and the green light turns red and flashes, it probably means the lamp inside the set is no longer working. If you noticed the screen beginning to dim in the preceding days or weeks, this most likely is the cause.

  2. If the green light flashes and the picture comes on momentarily but then goes off, and the green button flashes until the set restarts, then the seal around the lamp mount is loose and needs to be refitted.

  3. If the picture on your Grand Wega cuts in and out and the green standby light flashes, both of the set's STKs need to be replaced. STKs are small chips on your television's circuit boards and are identifiable by their labels. The specific STKs used in your Grand Wega TV will be identifiable by the numbered labels on top of the STKs.

  4. When you plug in your Sony Wega and hear a loud popping sound, it's probably caused by a defect in the high-voltage circuit. Let the professionals take care of this one.

  5. If, after turning on your Sony Wega, you can hear your set but the screen is black, you most likely need to replace your projection lamp.

No solution for you...but I have the same problem. I also had the green blob problem which sony fixed earlier this year. It happens on an intermittent basis. Screen goes off, standby light blinks green, then comes back on. Its off for maybe 1-2 min.

TV won't turn on and green light is solid.

My Dad suggested unplugging the television as it might need to reset itself. We unplugged it, let it sit while I cleaned the back with the vacuum cleaner, plugged it back in and it works fine now.

Sony wega rear projection

Many Sony LCD projection TV's have a problem with optic block failures and your description is exactly what happens. Picture starts turning yellow or green and blotches of yellow or green. Many Sony model have an extended manufacture warranty on these optic blocks and if you get me the model and serial # of your unit I can provide more info.
