Re: mt800 projector

First I would suggest cleaning the filter on the bottom of the unit where the fan inlet is. Over heating can cause many issues with the video controller in the projector, also shortens the life span of the bulb, always let the unit cool down when turning it off (let the fan run when you turn the power of by top button, never unplug and use the power switch on back. until the fan shuts off.)

if you get no light, clean out the projector of dust with canned air. overheating from excessive dust blows lamp quickly. now replace the lamp. if still no light, replace the ballast.

LCD projector spots showing up on the screen

there are light filters behind each lcd panel that determine the color of light going through it. because of excessive heat and dust, the filter tends to burn and cause discoloration in the image. if the image is bluish (cyan), the red filter is burning. if it's yellow, the blue is burning. if it's purplish (magenta), the green is burning. the filters will need to be replaced. unfortunately, many companies don't sell individual parts of the optical engine, so the entire engine might need to be replaced.

Picture distortion

That S-video cable...if it is longer than 1 meter you will get a poor picture. Get an component cable and connect your players thru that, that will improve thepicture 1000 times, belive me

This is the connectors back on your Acer
1 x RGB D-Sub 15pin
1 x Composite
1 x S-Video
1 x Component

And the component connector is way the best of them, its better that all of the together..if i may say so

Good luck

NEC MT800 Projector with Vertical Lines in picture

The ghosting problem is a combination of both the lcds and driver boards in which case neither need to be truely replaced.. They use a specific voltage to transmit data to the lcds.. Each lcd is different and the driver board is programmed by the factory for the EE setting. Unfortunatly with nec, they do not offer a service mode to go in and adjust the ee settings to correct the electrical convergance. So the only way to fix the problem is to replace the lcd with a newer one who wasnt worn out from long term heat.

Toshiba tdp-mt800

Hi there

Have you tried using another input like the Component instead of the DVI. See if it makes any difference.

If not it could be the DMD or your Mainboard.

Most of the time it is the Mainboard - Home Theatre Projectors come out with awesome DMD's , so I doubt it to be the problem.

Hope this is usefull !
