Installed and reinstalled both the Aveocap and Sonix Camera drivers. Rebooted the system and nothing. Tried removing and reinstalling but still nothing. Device manager says the device is working properly and that the drivers are up to date. Using the P2 button doesn't work either.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Try uninstalling the webcam restart your computer,reinstall the webcam with the single original driver WITHOUT any updates.If that does'nt fix it, the webcam may have went out or a sevice may have been turned off somehow.Sounds like the webcam went out or has become disconnected in some way or a corrupted driver.Also remember to, VISTA sucks

That's a registry fault and you have to go to your device manager. Ensure the device is set as active and run the system troubleshooter to ensure none of the dll's in the driver base have been corrupted.

Go into menu and look for AV/DV out, and turn on. this should be under menu under camera or video settings. I assume your output from your camera has not been established. I have to establish mine with my camcorder. hope this helps.
Based on your post/description, a couple of possible reasons:
1. The drivers were not initially loaded/installed - use the original CD that came with the handycam to install/reinstall the drivers; or
2. The USB cable or USB port is faulty - replace or try another port;
3. You have to manually select the video capture device;
4. You don't need to "capture" but "Import Video" i.e. use an existing movie file that is saved in your handycam - copy, paste or use;
Hope the above give you an idea or two. Pls post back how things are or if you need further information. Good luck and kind regards.
