Question about Motorola Mobility SLVR L7 Cellular Phone

1 Answer

Needs new buttons and layer below the buttons..

Below the surface buttons there is a white piece of plastic with tiny shiny buttons. My phone needs a new one of those plus some new buttons. But the surface buttons are no problem. It's this other layer... I don't even know what to call it or where to get it or if anyone has tried to save their phone beyond this point before.

This is a cheap fix if I can find the part for sale anywhere, I'm sure... A new phone would be about $40-$50 average on Ebay.

I would recommend ebay. And it is this thin film that has the buttons. It will be available at service centre of Motorola.

My garbage does not work.it makes humming sound for few seconds but does not rotate blades.

Use a broomstick handle to see if disposal blades rotate freely
If blades are stuck, use broomstick to wedge blades free.

If blades rotate freely, and motor does not turn on, then garbage disposal is broken.
Disposal mechanism cannot be disassembled for repairs.
Disposal will need to be replaced at some point.

I wrote tips for replacing disposal from days when I worked apartment maintenance.

Here are basic disposal parts:
1) Sink basket that connects to sink and is held with 3 screws from below.
2) Disposal body which connects to sink basket using metal ring.
3) Rubber washer between disposal and sink basket.
4) Dishwasher connection at upper part of disposal with a hose.
5) Electric wire from disposal switch connects to disposal near red reset button.
6) Tubular drain pipe connection on side of disposal

In apartment maintenance, we replaced disposal with same size and brand disposal.
That way we didn't have to change out sink basket or move pipes around under the sink.
How to: Disconnect 2 nuts on p-trap and trap falls loose.
Using hammer and screwdriver, rotate steel connector disk that holds disposal to sink basket, and disposal comes off.
Before installing new disposal.
Attach electric wire to new disposal, black wire to black and white to white, and push in red reset button.
Attach dishwasher tube to new disposal. Knock out plug inside dishwasher opening.
Lift new disposal up into place, and attach to old sink basket.
There is a rubber washer between disposal and sink basket, Use new washer.
Connector ring catches at three points, all three have to connect.
You can use bottle jack to lift disposal if you have problem.
Re-assemble tubular pipe.
geno_3245_252.jpg
Image shows direction for connecting new disposal.

If this is your home, you want new sink basket that comes with new disposal because it looks shiny and new.
Buy a tub of plumbers putty also.
Remove 3 screws that hold sink basket, remove basket and clean sink opening.
Put finger-size roll of plumbers putty around sink opening, and then push new strainer basket into plumbers putty.
Tighten basket from below, wipe away excess putty around sink opening.
Install new disposal as described above.

geno_3245_253.jpg

Tips for tubular pipes:
When taking apart tubular pipes, start at p-trap and take apart as few pieces as needed to do job.
On image above, loosen both upper and lower nuts, trap falls loose, and then work on disposal.
Any tubular drain pipe that gets moved while working under sink needs to be disassembled, cleaned and re-assembled.
Metal pipes have rubber washer >> always use new rubber washers.
Plastic pipes have plastic washers > plastic washers can be cleaned and re-used.
Plastic washers have flat side that goes toward nut, tapered side away from nut.

geno_3245_254.jpg

When reassembling tubular pipe, we use rectorseal on washers and joints.
Always slap a good amount all around washer just before pushing washer in place and attaching nut.
Rectorseal will ensure tubular drain pipes won't leak.

On 2 of the 4 handsets on my Uniden DECT 2080, the large middle button has stopped functioning properly. It's the button with caller ID, phone book, and arrow buttons. One stopped working about 2 months...

After having the same trouble with my DCX200 and not finding a solution online for the problem, I set out to find a solution of my own. The fix I describe below is probably more of a band-aid than permanent fix but it appears to be working great. The problem, I believe, is caused by the metallic compound that the manufacturer used on the push button contacts in this model of phones and more specifically with the large multi-function button. This compound appears to wear off quite easily with repeated use of the keypad. Along with this I think that the design of the multi-function button did not take into consideration the environment in which it would be used. Not everyone washes their hands and face before using a phone (does anyone?) and between grease, make-up and natural oils of the skin building up and eventually making their way down into the components, this may be a contributor to why these buttons are so susceptible to failure.

_889.jpg What you will need:
1) Small Phillips head screw driver.
2) Small flat head screw driver (not shown).
3) Goo-Gone, Isopropyl Alcohol or some other degreaser/cleaner.
4) Hole punch, preferably smaller than a "standard" hole punch. I found the one I used in my wife's craft supplies.
5) Cotton swabs.
6) Metallic or foil tape. Can be found at any home improvement or hardware store.

Step 1. Remove battery and two screws circled in red with your small Phillips head screw driver.
_891.jpg
Step 2. Pry off the dark grey back of the phone case with your flat head screw driver. I found that starting at the base of the phone and working around the sides was easiest.
_892.jpg
Step 3. Being mindful the the wires that attach to speaker take the dark grey back off of the phone. Next remove the screw circled in red below:
_893.jpg
Removing this screw will allow you to remove the circuit board from the front face of the phone to expose the numeric keypad as shown below. There is a thin white plastic keypad component that will either remain affixed to the keypad or the circuit board when you remove the circuit board from the front face of the phone. Be sure not to damage that.
_894.jpg
Take the white plastic sheet and affix it to the circuit board side (if not already on it), with the small black button contact points facing down onto the circuit board as shown below:
_895.jpg
Now soak one side of your cotton swab in your Goo-Gone or Alcohol solution and clean both the four small black push button contacts of the large multi-function button on the back side of the keypad and also the contact points on the circuit board. Then take the dry side of the cotton swab and remove any excess cleaner on the button contacts and the contact points. This step is critical. This cleans the surfaces and makes the push button contacts on the back side of the keypad ready to receive the foil tape.

Pictured below is the cleaning of the push button contacts of the multi-function button on the back side of the keypad:
_896.jpg
Also clean the contact points on the circuit board using the white plastic sheet as a guide to where to clean. Don't forget to use the dry side of the swab to remove any excess cleaner:
_897.jpg
Now the part that requires of bit of dexterity. Using your hole punch punch out four pieces of the foil tape. If you do not have a hole punch or are using a "standard" sized hole punch, you will want to try and use a scissors to cut out a small piece of foil tape that will fit over the black push button contacts of the multi-function key on the back side of the keypad:
_898.jpg
Harvest the small circles of foil tape that the hole punch punched out of the foil tape.
You can see a couple of them on my finger below:
_899.jpg
Now using your finger nail, gently remove the foil tape backing on these small circles. Yes, this can be a bit tricky, but I found it to be easier than I expected. With the backing off of the foil tape, affix your small foil circle onto the push button contacts of the multi-function button on backside of the keypad as shown below. Do not affix these to the circuit board contacts:
_900.jpg
Do this for all four contacts of the multi-function button on the keypad. The picture below shows the finished repair to the push button contacts. I also placed the white plastic film component onto the keypad side to underscore the fact that you place the foil onto the keypad and NOT the circuit board:
_901.jpg
Now place the circuit board back onto the front side of the phone (silver side) and fasten down with the screw you took out in step 3 above.

Affix the dark grey back of the phone onto the front side. There is a small plastic tongue at the top of the dark grey back that fits into a groove on the top of the front silver side of the phone. Get that tongue into place first then the rest of the back will snap into place.

After the back has been snapped back onto the front of the phone, fasten it down with the two screws you took out in step 1 in the battery compartment.

Put the battery back in, wait for the phone to turn on and try the keypad out. Below, you can see that I am checking the caller ID side of the mult-function button:
_902.jpg
This fix appears to work quite well. I don't know how long the repair will last but it would be easy enough to do again if needed.

Instructions to replace the samsung sgh-a877 lcd screen?

needs major work. Do it at your own risk. Did everything right but messed up and broke the tab on the touchscreen cable connector on my daughter's phone. Feel crappy. Will post with pictures later on.
1. remove battery/ Sim 2. remove all screws from the back on the black plastic cover. (6 of them) Leave the ones below the battery. 3. Use the pry tool to remove the back case. 4. remove the motherboard, three connectors, one on bottom left, antenna and top right below the board. board comes off. You also have to remove the power connector (transparent plastic) to what appears to be some hf component (cylinder). there are two wires (red, black), red goes to side marked +. remove with pry tool. 5. Remove all small screws you can see. 6. Remove the shiny plate, keyboard button layer. 6a. Remove the lcd connector screw and the connector. 7. Remove screws from the bottom of the lcd portion of the slider. You can access all screws from the back side. Use the slider to get the back of the phone. There are 5 screws. 8. Use the pry tool to take out the back slider. Be careful with the lcd connector. 9. pull up the black tab on the digitizer connection from the screen 10. remove the lcd 11. use a hair dryer to loosen the glue around the broken digitizer. 12. put the new one in 13. Put all the screws back.

Dell 948 false paper jams

After you lift open the top, look below the shiny bar that the Print Head slides left/right on. You'll see a row of 8 tiny rollers. In between the middle two rollers (rollers #4 and #5 from the left), look for a small plastic tab sticking up between them. Touch this tab with the tip of a ball-point pen to see if it pushes down. If it does, then push the "checkmark" button on the control panel.

My Sony Camera screen when i turn it on is white & has a pink line going diagonally through the screen

A multicolor vertical line may display on the camera LCD screen if there is glare on the subject being photographed. Avoid photographing very shiny surfaces that reflect excessive amount of light into the camera lens. Follow the procedure below to resolve this issue:
  1. Record the video or click the still pictures in a different lighting environment.
  2. On the camera, move the FOCUS AUTO/MANUAL switch to AUTO .
  3. Set the PLAY/STILL/MOVIE selector to MOVIE or STILL .
  4. Press the WHITE BALANCE button until the white balance is set to AUTO (no indicator).
  5. Record the video to new media.
  6. NOTE: If the issue is still unresolved after completing all of the troubleshooting steps, service may be required.

Power button just blinks,no buttons work

To get your DVD out of the non working player, you have to look on the bottom of the case below the tray. There you will find a little slot, about 2 cm long x 2 mm wide. Through that slot you will see a white plastic piece, sometimes its on the middle of the slot and sometimes its full to the left of it (the front of the player facing you). Use something that can be inserted in the slot (I used a little knife) and move the white plastic piece all the way to the left, that will loose the tray. Then you will be able to open the tray using your fingers, nails or anithing that won't scratch the finishing of the case.
