RCA D52W19 52, Squealing noise off and on from back of set

I have the same problem. I have read that you can poke around the back and see if the transformer/coil or somthing is loose, then put some silicone or glue on it...

I have an RCA DLP tv model HP50LPW52. the sound was there with no picture. since it is 5 years old I replaced the lamp for the first time. got it all hooked up, turned it on and the tv slowly came on....

That is your Color Wheel that is bad. I wish you would have posted the problem before buying a lamp. I would have told you to treat yourself to a new set instead of putting good money into a DLP set that is 5 years old.

Rca parts

Yes and unfortunatly it failed taking out all the parts again. I'm back to square 1 trying to figure out the fix for this. RCA recommonds you replace the deflection board which is on international backorder and doesnt appear to be available anytime soon. I need to get back into the set and poke around with a multimeter and osilliscope see if I can't pinpoint whats causing it to blow parts back out.

A squealing noise generally indicates that there is something loading down the switching power supply. Generally a shorted component will do that. Without any other information it's hard to tell which circuit could be the culprit. It may even be a faulty power supply itself. Was there any problem prior to this condition? Any odd picture problems, shrinking etc. or sound issues, tuning issues?

Squeak

The high pitch squeal you hear is usually caused by a coil vibrating, normally in the horizontal circuit. I've also seen the ferrite bead on the horizontal output transistor do this, but, it is rare. I normally will repair this by finding the coil and "tightening" it. To tighten a coil, technicians use different chemicals, such as, a hot glue gun, rubber silicone or even finger nail polish. I will find the coil that screams by starting with the usual suspects and using a wooden dowel, barely touch the coil and if the pitch of the noise changes, then, thats the coil that needs repaired. If you do not know your way around the inside of a television, I never recommend you do so, since, this procedure must be done with the set turned on and you poke your hands around the inside of the set by the high voltage circuit. Hope this helps your decision.
