The light flashes constantly at a rate of about 50 per min. I'm aware it is in standby mode but how do I get it out of standby. Maybe I didn't provide enough information. Thanks for the responses

Depends on how many times it blinks, just count the blinks Example: if it blink 2 times then pauses and blink 5 times then the code would be 25 and so on

Once you have this code, please post it.

Dear Sir,

When you pressed sleep button TV goes to standby mode.It means it goes to power saving mode.Advantage of this feature is you can set the sleep timer,so tv on that particular time it goes to standby or power saving mode.It is helpful when you are watching tv on bed if you want to sleep no need switch off TV plugs, just press sleep button from your place only, TV goes to standby mode.
It is the actual meaning
I think it cleared your doubt

Welcome back to Fixya Customer Support

    thanks for your comment

    1. Check the Sony remote for a button labeled "Sleep." This allows you to cycle through the sleep settings and determine how long you want the TV to remain on.

    2. Step 2
Press the "Sleep" button. You'll see a number come up onscreen: usually 15 or 90. When you press it again the number changes, moving up and down in increments of 15. This is the number of minutes the TV will remain on before it goes to sleep. As you cycle through it, you should see a setting with the words "Sleep Off" appear onscreen. If you leave it there, the sleep setting should cancel, allowing you to turn the set off when you like. If you miss it, just keep pushing the "Sleep" button. It will continue to cycle through the options until "Sleep Off" appears once again.

    3. Step 3
Access the timer function to shut off the timer by pressing the "Menu" button, then cycling through the onscreen options until you reach the "Applications" setting. Press it, and then cycle through to the "Clock/Timers" option.

    4. Step 4
Highlight the "Timer 1" setting and press the "+" button. If it's showing a given time, you'll need to deactivate it. Use the up and down arrows and move through the possible options until you come to the "Off" setting. Leave it there; that should shut the timer off.

    5. Step 5
Repeat the process with the "Timer 2" setting, a little further down the "Clock/Timers" menu. Set it to the "Off" position just as you did with the "Timer 1" setting.

    6. Step 6
Press the "Menu" button when you are done to exit the menu and return to the screen. You should be able to view the Sony TV as normal with no danger of it turning off.

My stereo keeps turning off when I listen to a station 101.5 in New Jersey

The only thing that can be is that you have set a timer "sleep" function for that station. I have looked at the manual and it states you can programme a sleep setting for a radio station.
The instructions are on page 12. But I have extracted them below:

1 Press the ON/STAND-BY button to turn the power on.

2 Press and hold the CLOCK/TIMER button.

3 Within 10 seconds, press the or button

to select "ONCE" or "DAILY", and press the MEMORY

button. Set the clock to the correct time if "ONCE" or

"DAILY" does not appear.

4 Within 10 seconds, press the or button to select

"ONCE SET" or "DAILY SET", and press the MEMORY

button.

5 To adjust the hour, press the or button and then

press the MEMORY button.

6 To adjust the minutes, press the or button and

then press the MEMORY button.

7 Set the time to fi nish as in steps 5 and 6 above.

8 To select the timer playback source (CD, TUNER, USB,

iPhone/iPod, TAPE or AUDIO IN), press the or

button. Press the MEMORY button.

When you select the tuner, select a station by pressing

the or button, and then press the MEMORY

button. If a station has not been programmed, "NO

PRESET" will be displayed and timer setting will be

canceled.

9 Adjust the volume using the VOLUME control, and then

press the MEMORY button. Do not turn the volume up

too high.

10 Press the ON/STAND-BY button to enter the power

stand-by mode. The "TIMER" indicator lights up and

the unit is ready for timer playback.

11 When the preset time is reached, playback will start.

The volume will increase gradually until it reaches the

preset volume. The "?" or "DAILY" indicator will blink

during timer playback.

12 When the timer end time is reached, the system will

enter the power stand-by mode automatically.

Once timer:

The timer will be canceled.

Daily timer:

The timer operates at the same time every day. It

will continue until the daily timer setting is canceled.
Cancel the daily timer when it is not in use.

Have lost instructions to Emerson universal jumbo remote

Using Code Search:

1. Turn on the device you want to program into the remote.
2. Point your remote control at the device
3. Press and hold the "Code Search" button for about 3 seconds until the light on the remote stays on.
4. Press the button on the remote for the device you want to program. Push the "TV" button to program the TV, press the "DVD" button to program the DVD player, etc. The light on the remote control will blink and stay on.
5. Slowly press and release the power button repeatedly until the device turns off. Each time you push the power button the light should blink once.
6. Press "Enter" to save the code into the remote and the light will turn off.

Program a Manual Code:

1. First turn on the device that you want to program such as your TV or DVD player.
2. Point your remote control at the device.
3. Press the button on the remote that corresponds to the device. If you want to program the TV, press the TV button.
4. Press the "Code Search" button for about 3 seconds until the light stays on.
5. Enter the code for your device using the number pad. The light will blink each time you push a button. If the code works, the light will turn off. If the light flashes, that means the code did not work. There may be multiple codes for a device. If a code does not work, start from the beginning by holding down code search until the light stays on and use a new code.
6. Press the power button to test if your device turns off. It it does not turn off, repeat the process with a new code.

Retrieving the Code for your Device:

If you used the code search function to program your device and want to know the code for future reference, you can retrieve the code from the remote. To do this:

1. Press and hold the Code Search for 3 seconds until the light stays on.
2. Press the device button for the code you want to retrieve. Press TV to get the TV code, etc. The light will blink once and stay on.
3. Press the number buttons from 0 to 9. When the light blinks once, that signals the first number of the code.
4. Repeat for the 2nd and 3rd digits of the code. The light will turn off after you retrieve the 3rd digit.

Programming the Sleep Setting:

1. Press and hold the "SLEEP" button until the light stays on.
2. Use the number pad to enter 2 digits for how many minutes to use for the timer (01 to 99 minutes). The light will turn off and start timing.
3. Make sure the remote is pointing at your device.
4. To cancel the sleep timer, press the power button once or hold down the sleep button until the light flashes once.
