SOURCE: Reset Button on my Dyson DC 25 Animal

What do you want to reset? Do you mean the motor has stopped working? There is no "reset button". The motor has an automatic cut-out, which will operate if the motor gets too hot and will reset itself when it cools. If the motor will not work when it's cool, then you have an electrical problem which will probably need professional attention.

SOURCE: Brush roller won't turn

On my Dyson, there is a brush reset button on the top right hand side (if you are looking at the front) that you can press to reset the brush. I was vacuuming and too lazy to move a toy and this worked for me once I freed the rope from the brush.

Hi its Darran at Dyson.

Simply switch the machine off and stand it upright. Press the brush bar on/off switch once and then turn the machine back on.

When you release the machine into the vacuuming position, the brush bar should start to turn again.

If you still having problems, please contact our Helpline on 0800 298 0298 (UK) or 1866MYDYSON (US).

Why the Dyson dc 41 roller brush will not turn?

Try these steps:
  • Check the button that turns off the roller brush to make sure you didn't press it by accident.
  • Unplug the vacuum and clear pet hair and other debris off the roller brush. It may stop as a safety feature if the roller brush is too restricted.
  • Make sure the belt to the roller brush is placed correctly and not broken.
  • Press the roller brush reset button. It may be located on the side of the vacuum's head, or inside the handle. The switch may need to be replaced if it's defective.
  • The roller brush is disabled while the handle is in the upright position, so tilt the handle backwards while testing the roller brush.
I hope that helps you!

Hi Stephen,

I'm sorry to hear you've had difficulty with your DC25 Overdrive. If the brush bar won't rotate, and you've already checked the cleaner head is free of obstructions, it's likely it just needs resetting.

You might like to take a look at the video below to make sure everything is correct with the machine. Once you've done this, if you turn the machine on, recline it into the vacuuming position, then press the silver brush control switch twice, this should reset the brush bar.

If you'd like any further assistance or advice, please give our Helpline a call on 0800 298 0298. Just to let you know, calls are free from UK landlines, and the Helpline is available from 7am-10pm, 7 days a week.

My dyson dc24 roller bar won't spin

Hi there, it's Jack at Dyson.

I'm sorry to hear you're having difficulties with your DC24. Your cleaner is equipped with a safety device which shuts off the brushbar if it gets tangled with a rug fringe, shoelace etc. After making sure the brushbar is free of threads, hair or other obstructions, you'll be able to reset the cleaner and get the brushbar running again. The easiest way to do this is to follow the steps shown in our online support guide:

http://www.dyson.co.uk/support/dc24new/dc24-multi-floor/my-machine-is-not-working/brushbar-not-rotating-reset-check

Use something like the eraser-end of a pencil to depress the reset button, and make sure you push it in firmly until you hear an audible 'click'.

Please note, the brushbar will never rotate when the cleaner is standing in the upright position, or if you've turned it off using the silver brush control switch located next to the red on/off switch.By following these steps, you should be able to resolve your issue without further assistance.

However, if you've tried this and are still concerned, it's probably best if you get in touch with us directly. You can call us free on 08002980298 (UK), or 1866MYDYSON (US). One of our experts will be happy to run through some troubleshooting over the phone with you recommend the best course of action.

Roller bar not turning and I dont have a manuel

Hi there,

Sorry to hear you're having difficulties with your DC24. Your cleaner is equipped with a safety device which shuts off the brushbar motor if the brushbar becomes tangled in a rug fringe, etc. It's a good idea to check the brushbar and cleaner head are free of any threads, hair or other obstructions. You can find out how to do this here:

http://www.dyson.com/support/help.asp?article=1129&product=DC24-ALLFLOORS

Once you've made sure the cleaner head is clear, you can reset the machine. Turn it to face you, and locate the reset button in the red recess on the left-hand side of the cleaner head. Use the blunt end of a pencil to press this in until you hear an audible 'click'.

You can download an online copy of the user guide here - you might like to save it for future reference:

If you need any further assistance, please get in touch with us directly so one of our experts can run through some troubleshooting with you over the phone. You can call us free on 08002980298 (UK), or 1866MYDYSON (US).
