Question about Hisense TL1700 17 in. LCD Television
When turning on the unit the light just flashes from red to green to red to green but the TV does not come on. None of the switches on the TV work and the remote doesn't work either. Have disconnected power and reconnected with no results. Have changed batteries in the remote with no results. Have turned the unit on and off with the switch with no results. No matter what I do the light just keeps flashing and it will not come on. Is it time for another TV?
Lay unit flat on table, remove stand and rear cover. When you remove back, you will see a power supply board in the middle of the set. There are (3)1000mfd @25 volt electroltics and (1)220mfd @16 volt electrltyic that have to be replaced to return to normal operation. This is not something to try if you are a novice as you must observe polarity when installing these caps. But this repair WILL return set to normal operation.

This works. I replaced only the (3) 1000mfd . I bought them for $1.58 at Radio Shack along with an $8 soldering gun and $2 worth of soldering wire. I got away with paying less than $20 in supplies. I bought the TV for approx. $250. This fix was well worth the trip to Radio Shack.
