My phone works, but one day the screen started to go black, it was still on, i could still get calls and text, take pics, etc, but couldn't see what was going on. obviously, that was a bit of a problem with the texting, pictures, etc. For a while it would turn back to the original screen, but it always went back to black, now it wont turn to the original screen at all. it's probable that the cause is water damage, because i had dropped it in a cup of water, but that was a month or two before any damage had made itself known, any help on how to fix it?? i need to text!

From the question you wrote, it means that the phone has two problems to be solved:
The freezing of the phone, and the black screen display.
What causes a phone to freeze is when the memory of the phone has tampered and has allowed the phone to have memory loss and it will need to be restored for the phone to function normal again.
It can be restored by flashing the phone to restore the memory back.
The black screen is caused when the flex that connects the board of the phone to the front board that enable the screen to be able to display is damaged, it makes the screen of the phone go black. And it needs to be replaced for it to be able to display again.
After fixing the problem of the phone, the phone will start working properly again.
Although my battery still had a charge, I plugged my phone into the wall charger while it was in the off position. The splash screen came up and the phone came to life again! I let it fully charge and it is still working the next day. I am going to have it professionally checked out ASAP.
I tried a solution to a similar problem and it worked for this problem, which I was having too. All I did was remove the leather case that I used to protect the iPhone. Calling and the screen worked like normal after I took the phone out of the leather case. Try that.

I have a solution. Call at&t. they will send you a new one. I have had my phone for 5 months and it happened to me also. There's a warranty on the phone itself that covers it from the day "you" started using it. I bought mine from a friend. Cool!! It should be here in 5 days free shipping.
