Question about Sony XL5300 Replacement Lamp for XBR2 SXRD Rear Projection Television
I was watching tv and there was a noise and the picture went off but I still had sound until I turned the set off , now nothing. Any help will be taken. The set uses a xl-5200 lamp
If by noise, you mean a loud, audible pop--then it's your lamp that imploded.
You should be able to just pop off the cover on the side (right side if you are facing the front of the set), remove the internal lamp cover (if present) and yank (I mean, gently pull) out your lamp.
Look for all the bright particles of glass inside your newly imploded lamp. Replace with a Sony original, as these sets can chew through generic lamps very fast.
Now, if by noise you mean something else, please elaborate.
