An easy way to get the password for your wireless network is to connect your laptop directly to the unit via ethernet cable. After you get an ip address connect to the router. If you dont know how to do this you can usually go to manufacturers website and it will tell you how to login to the router. Once you are logged into the router you can go to the Wireless Settings page and see what key you are using and what type of encryption you are using.

  1. Choose a laptop or WiFi device that is currently connected to your network. If none of your devices are connected, use an Ethernet cable and connect a computer or laptop directly to your wireless gateway.
  2. Open a web browser and go to the Admin Tool (http://10.0.0.1) - this is the wireless gateway's administration site. The default settings are:
    • Username: admin
    • Password: password (case-sensitive)

    • Note: If you changed your Admin Tool password previously, you will need to use your new login information. If you don't remember your Admin Tool password, you will need to factory reset your wireless gateway. Instructions on how to do this can be found by reviewing the wireless gateway user guides at Wireless Gateway Guides.
  3. On the left navigation menu, select Gateway, then Connection and then Wi-Fi.

Connect an Ethernet cable from the network port on your computer to one of the LAN ports on your router.

Start Internet Explorer.
Access the web-server inside the router: http://192.168.0.1 or http://192.168.1.1
and set a new password for your wireless network.

I have a new laptop and when I go to connect to the connection it is asking me for a network key. How do I find this? Thank you!

The network key is most likely the password if you like for your wireless internet connection. If this is not your connection, you cant obviously get the network key. If it is your wireless connection, then you will need to reset your wireless router and set it up again with a new password that you can remember

Cant rember password

Your wireless router is prompting you for a password in order to log onto your network. If you do not remember your password, you can reset the routers' configuration by holding down the reset button on the back of the router, and you can then use the default user name and password to change the settings. HOWEVER, you will lose all of your network settings so if you have multiple devices connected via wireless, they will also have to be reset.

If you need help re-configuring your router, visit the router manufacturer's web page. There should be a tutorial to walk you through the process.

I need security key/passphrase

Log into the management council on the router. From there, you can find or replace your passphrase.

open your web browser; and type in this address, be sure to use the dots: 192.168.0.1

You will be guided to a login screen. the username is ADMIN (not case sensitive).

The password is blank...that is, do not type anything in the password box. Hit enter.

Good luck
tony

Can't remember the Network key for our home wireless setup

Try logging into the router by opening you web browser and in the address bar type 192.168.0.1 , if you are prompted for a username and password enter them and click ok (username usually "admin" password usually "root" if they havn't been changed.
Go to the wireless tab and see if it is displayed in there, if it isnt then make a new one and save it but by doing this all other devices connected to it will need the new key putting in but at least you can now connect your new laptop and surf away.

hope this helps :o)

reset your modem by pressing reset button on your modem for more than 5 seconds so all the information entered will be gone including your password

than insert your modem CD and connect to your modem

set up your internet again
put your password and user name that your ISP gave you
set : get IP from ISP
get DNS from ISP
APPLY
than go to wireless setting

use wpa- personal
and set up a new password eg. (usa2008)

than it will say your computers and network setting doesnt match
go to connect find your modem
right click on it
click on properties
than go security
choose WPA- personal
TKIP
and your password (usa2008) you set to your modem
connect to your internet

im not sure if this is what you mean / thats how i anderstood your problem

NOTE : RESET YOUR MODEM IF YOU HAVE ALL YOUR INTERNET SERVICE INFORMATION

Lost network password which I need to sign on an ipod touch using a netgear dg834gt

Key 1 should work in most cases. If you have additional keys listed, try them also.
If none work, turn off encryption and connect your new device, then create a new password.
