I can't install my cartridge in my Deskjet 3512.

Turn the printer on.
Load paper into the paper input tray.
Open the cartridge door (located on the front of the printer), look for the recessed area, grab the built in handle (part of the recessed area) and pull forward.
Once the door is open, the cartridges will automatically move to the center position.
To change a cartridge, pull the top, front of the cartridge down, it will move to a 45 deg position. Then just pull out.
Open the new cartridge box, take the cartridge out of the wrapper, pull the tab to remove the tape covering the electrical contacts, (make certain you don't touch the contacts or ink nozzles), install the new cartridge (color on left, black on right), slide it into the holder and press up on the top, back until it latches into place. Then close the door.
The printer will print a test page. Once printed, take the alignment page it printed and put on the scanner glass (corner to top, right, see the guide printed there). Close the scanner lid and press the OK on the control panel. the printer will now align the print heads based on the page it printed. Once done, press OK again. Done.

How do I get the cartridge out to replace with new one???

The steps of replacing cartridge with a new one.

1) First You keep the printer power on. Open the printer cover - you will find the cartridges holder will come in proper place (the position varies printer to printer) so that you can easily remove the old cartridge.

2) Press gently the upper front portion of the cartridge you want to remove out of the printer holder - you will find it will be unlocked - just remove the cartridge carefully. (in some printer there is a cover on top of the cartridge holder which you can open to perform the step 2.

3) Unpack the new cartridge.

4) Don't forget to remove the plastic tape from the cartridge head ( HP, Lexmark cartridges etc).

5) Look the printer holder and look to the cartridge - you can easily decide the position of the cartridge in the holder.

6) Gently and carefully  put the cartridge in the holder - press the upper portion of the cartridge from front side - the cartridge will be locked autometically in the holder.

7) Put the printer cover in proper place.

8) Print Now - it will print test page first. Now print as usual.

I hope the solution is helpful to you. Thanks for using

I am trying to print a page from my printer and the printer is telling me that the left cartridge is incorrect. and then I get a message on my computer telling me that the cartridge installed is not...

Some times the cartridge holder is dirty take a lint free cloth and very easy wipe it off and try again.
Also if you got refurbished or refilled ink cartridges this can cause a incompatible problem. if they are not recycled clean the holders and put them back in and tell the printer it is new ink even if it is not, where it says is this a new cartridge or a used one check new. hopeully this will solve your problem
Good Luck

Replacing ink cartridge--just need help on first time

Ensure the printer is on before you start. Pull the top of the printer up, there should be a bar on the right that clicks into place, exposeing the cardridges, the cartridge holder should automatically move to the left allowing access to the cartridges, when removing there should be a clip neer the bottom of each cartridge holder flip it down and the cartridge should pull out, ensure you put the correct colours in the write place there should be a colour code strip along the top of the cartridge holders. The cartridges go in to the printer with gold electronic part facing the back of the printer try and remember as you take them out.. Once all cartridges are in, ensure they are clicked down, push the bar on the right inwards and it should release so that the top can go down again. And thats it your printer should be good to go, do a print test page by selecting printers in the settings tab in the start bar and right clicking on the printer icon and clicking preferences. If it prints your good.

hope this helps post back if have any problems.

The print head is clogged.Open the cover and first remove the ink cartridges. Then open the holder and remove the print head.Run hot tap
water and put the print head with the nozzles up to stream water.Hold that 5 mins then turn the print head around with the nozzles down.Hold that for every color of 5 mins. Then put the print head in hot water with the nozzles down.Left it water about 15 mins and then you must very nice to dry. When the print head dry put it in printer and start cleaning. If this not help you need to replace the print head. It's part number is QY6-0059.

The printer doesn't recognize the new original HP color cartridge

There is a small spring that holds the ink cartridge in the ink holder. You will see it stick out from the right hand side of the ink holder where the ink cartridge slides in. If that spring isn't being held to the ink holder by two plastic tabs, (I.E. the plastic tabs are broken) the printer will never recognize the cartridge. If the printer is still under warranty I would contact HP or an authorized repair center for HP. Both the black and color ink holder has this spring. I know of no way to repair this kind of breakage.

If your replacing the fine cartridge follow these steps. Sorry for jumping in but it looks like your in a hurry. If you already solved it, great.

bullet_s.gif Do not touch the metallic parts inside the printer.
i_important.gif Important
If the Front Cover is left open for more than 10 minutes, the FINE Cartridge Holder moves to the right. Close and reopen the Front Cover to return the holder to the left.
2 Remove the empty FINE Cartridge.

i_important.gif Important
bullet_s.gif Handle FINE Cartridges carefully to avoid staining your clothes or surrounding work area.

bullet_s.gif Do not re-attach the protective tape once you have removed it. Discard it according to the local laws and regulations regarding disposal of consumables.
bullet_s.gif Once the protective tape is removed, do not touch the electrical contacts or Print Head Nozzles on a FINE Cartridge. The printer may not print out properly if you touch it.
bullet_s.gif Be careful not to stain your clothes and hands with ink on the removed protective tape.
4 Install the FINE Cartridge.
(1) Insert a new FINE Cartridge all the way into the appropriate slot.
The Black FINE Cartridge should be installed into the left slot (ug_maintenance37.jpg) and the Color FINE Cartridge should be into the right slot (ug_maintenance38.jpg).
(2) Push up the FINE Cartridge until it clicks into place.
i_important.gif Important
The printer cannot be used unless both the FINE Cartridges are installed.
5 Close the Front Cover.

Hope this does it. I'll check on you later. If this fixes you up just rate it a 4 fix ya and I'll know you're ok.

Black ink won't print

Any tape/plastic left on the contact points on the cartridge, or any dirt on the contact points on the cartridge or cartridge holder? Will your old cartridge work, except poor print due to empty of ink? If so your new cartridge may be broken.

See if you can try a cartridge known to work in your printer and also try your cartridge in a printer similar to yours to eliminate source of error.
