Iam unable to find why the tv is skipping from channel 2 -9leaving us unable to view 3/4/5/itv2.Is ther a possible transmitter fault

Favorite channels are programmed sckipping some. Find on the tv the settings and reset the channels and you can see them all again.

If you are using an antenna to receive broadcast TV you may have to rescan to add channel 9 back into the TV's channel list. If this does not work, it may be seasonal or a weak signal from your channel 9 broadcaster. I use a signal booster on my antenna (purchased at Radio Shack..)

You can often find the digital channel numbers for your local stations in a guide like http://www.titantv.com/ or https://tvschedule.zap2it.com/?aid=gapzap . Alternately, check if the local stations websites offer a link to their schedule. This will usually list the channel/channel digital identity. Another source for the digital channel numbers are the antenna choice/position/direction guides. Look at http://www.antennaweb.org or http://www.tvfool.com . Tvfool.com gives the direction and signal strength for all channel transmitters in your general area. Antennaweb.org is much more conservative and will only give the strongest stations in your area. That conservative list assumes an external antenna and clear path between the transmitter and your antenna.

In my area, the analog channel 7 became digital channel 7-1 . However, the channels 12 and 16 now transmit at 43-1 and 46-1 . However, after letting the TV do the auto-search, they are 12-1 and 16-1 when I type in the channel numbers on my remote.

It seems odd to me that you say it is just ITV1 and Ch4 which have problems and you do get ITV2. ITV1 and ITV2 are on the same mux, are you sure it isn't ITV2+1 you are seeing?

Mux2 carries the following channels:

ITV1, ITV2, ITV3, ITV4, Ch4, E4, More4, Ch4+1

If you are getting any of the above (and not the +1 versions, except Ch4+1) then it is not a signal problem but something more mysterious. I guess it is possible the STBs you have are exhibiting a problem which is preventing just 2 channels from loading but I've not come across that before.

It sounds like the TV has re-mapped the channels incorrectly. You possibly can contact Toshiba to see if there is a firmware/software upgrade that will fix this issue. If there is you may be able to download the software off of their website and install yourself. Just make sure if that is the case follow the directions carefully. Hi - I have the same problem. Also in Cornwall LG were not interested in helping because the TV was 3 1/2 years old. There was a possible fix in the end offered via LG at a cost of £180 + vat - a hardware update that might or might not work but I was not going to pay that so I now watch my LG 42 plasma via a £25 digi box from the CO OP. LG must have sold 1000's of these Tv's so when the digital switch starts in the more populated areas of the country I exect many more web postings.

Enter "3" or "03" on the remote and press OK/Enter.  If the channel-skip feature is set on for Channel 3 you cannot get to it using the up/down buttons.  Go to the setup menu to disable the channel-skip for Channel 3 if you want to tune it with up/down buttons.  If you have no remote you should be able to access the menu from buttons on the front of the TV. (They may be inside a door or panel.)

Can you try a non-working box in the Thompson box's location in the lounge? If you swap the boxes in the lounge and they both work normally then you must suspect that the cable supplying the conservatory must be the problem.

Go to the Menu setting, and do a auto channel scan, it will automatically program it to NOT skip 3.
