I switched pwr supplies with a good running computer and that is how I know the one

in question is defective. The supply has another number: HP-L161NF3P. I am looking

for a specific part number for a spcific problem, such as that which is provided to electronic

repair depots using a manual known as "Sam's Photofacts." Hope this helps. Jim Cole

Saiki006: That Link you provided proved that I had the wrong pwr supply number.

I opened up the defective supply and I will send it to Davey Jones's Locker at the

bottom of the Pacific Ocean!! I will no longer waste any more of your time. Thanks

for your splendid effort. Take care, Jim Cole

There must be no problems with the above mentioned power supplies as it is the recommended for the Dell Optiplex GX280.

Are you facing any problems with it? If so, kindly let me so that we can troubleshoot further.

If there is any problem in general then it could be with the Main board but may not with the power supply.

Any defect with the power supply can be evident by a burning smell or a shorted circuit.

May be over voltage could be an issue causing the fuse in the power supply to fail.

In any case it is always recommended to replace the entire supply rather than repairing the same.

So from the above post I can see that you are looking for the part number of the Dell Optiplex system in which the power supply has gone bad. Is that right?
If that is what you are looking for then here it is

    Dell Part Number : P5795

    http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/produ...

Look for further information about the Power supply in the link above.
    Hope this helps/

Issues with 2gb 32ddr dell memory compatible in dell gx280

Unfortunately, the CPU on these computers may be capable of handling the 2GB memory, the motherboard isn't on either system.

The specs for the Dell GX280 are available here: http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/opgx280/en/ug/specs02.htm . This system takes 400 or 533 MHz DDR2 non-ECC memory and the form-factor determines the maximum memory. In the mini-tower format, you have 4 DIMM slots and can have 4 GB of memory. In the small form factor, it takes 2 GB max.

The Dell E310 specs are available here: http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/dim3100/en/sm/specs0.htm . This system can only support 2 GB (2 x 1 GB) memory.

I wish that I had better news for you.

Cindy Wells
(who had a similar Pentium 4 computer with the 1 GB limit. Since that system was running a 32-bit system and only actively addressed 3 GB, I didn't try to put 2 GB sticks in any of the 4 memory slots.)

Optiplex gx820 can i connect 300 watt power supply

You listed GX820 and GX260.

I am assuming you meant the GX260.

There are three varieties of the Gx260.

1) The SFF (Small Form Factor) power supplies can be replaced, but I know of no upgrades for these.

2) For the SDT (Small Desk Top), you can get up to a 270 (best I have seen).

Example of where to get one.

For the Mini Tower, here is an example of a 400W replacement. There may be others for this model.
http://www.cputopia.com/dell-400w-dell-optiplex-gx260.html

I have a GX280 Mini Tower and recently upgraded my PSU to one very similar to the one above.

What is the most memory l can put in my dell optiplex gx 280 desktop ,l have 512 in it now

For mini-tower and Desktop
You should have 4 slots.
4GB is the max if you replace all the sticks.

For gx280 SFF (Small Form Factor)
You should have 2 slots.
2GB is the max if you replace all the sticks.

Increase the amount of shared video dell gx280

Hello!

Don´t lose time for that, I think that you have integrated grafik in own chip, and they have same options with 1 or 64 MB, option in bios, that isn´t a standard shared grafik. Try AGP card if you have a socet for that.

I have Dell GX280 system. My Fan produces more sounds and runs fast. System Hangs while processing and performs slow, causes processor nore hot. I pasted the Heat Sink Paste on processor that resuls in low...

More than likely your fan needs to be replaced. These small form factor Dells are know for problems like this. Warning! Do NOT attempt to blow out the CPU fan with canned air, as this will likely lodge dust particles in the axis of the fan causing it to drag and become louder!

Power supply

What you need to be concerned about with Power Supplies is the Wattage (The higher the better) and its "Form-Factor." A Form Factor is the general size and shape of the motherboard. The most commonly used Form Factor is ATX or Mini-ATX. I would reccomend figuring out what size your case is either ATX or Mini-ATX (Baby-ATX sometimes) and you should be able to decided whether the PS is too big. Too small isn't a problem as long as you can screw the unit in tight.
