Emachine doesn't recognize the ethernet cord when plugged in

Sounds like the integrated ethernet port has gone bad. You can install a new ethernet card in one of the PCI expantion slots. Then plug the ethernet into the new card, this should take care of the problem. You can not repair a bad integrated ethernet port.

My cannot recognize ethernet controller. i tried several drivers, still does not work. please help!

Your ethernet card may be bad. You need to get a different card with the compatible drivers and install it both physically and driver-wise. If that card works it's a good bet the other one is dead.

I have a used computer and the person before a wireless connection and I have a cable connection and it not recognize my ethen cord. I disconnect the wireless service but it still not recognize.

It seems that your LAN Card or Network Interface Card is disabled , go into the device manager ( Start ->Run->cmd->devmgmt.msc ) Now in device manager you will see Network Adapter expand it and then you will see one Wireless Ethernet Adapter and another Ethernet Adapter ( this is you LAN adapter to which the cable will connect to ) Right click and Enable this.
Let me know if this helps

I have a 2wire 2071 - A modem and it wont read my ethernet cable

First check device manager to see if the copmuter recognizes the card, if it dont use the add hareware app, and have windows plug &play try to locate it. then open the case and remove the card with windows running and replace it in the slot , P&P may then locate it if windows doesnt, then the ethernet card may of had a voltage spike go thru it and fried the card.

Does not recognize the built in ethernet card.

Joecho,
First question is, what version of OS X are you running? Second,
Can you go into your system preferences, select network prefs, and next to SHOW, choose Network Status and verify 66b4536.png
That BUILT-IN ETHERNET is recognized?

Keep me posted.
