How to I fix false paper jam in Hp photosmart printer C5280

have you checked optical sensors ?, have you checked that all the actuator arms and flags for the optical sensors are intact and free of obstruction , i suggest using a blower to remove dust than a vacuum where possible , you will mostly have to dismantle the printer to accomplish said task with sensors etc.

firstly before you venture forth and waste time ( it's a valuable resource) check the strobe sensor on left side within the printer and the enchoder strip both are made of a type of mylar material, should solve the issue

When the paper is fed it is pulled in w/ the bottom right side of the paper going in but not the left side, it becomes uneven and ends up jamming - what would be the reason it would grab and pull the right...

The most likely cause of the problem is an obstruction on the left side of the paper path - most likely a shred of paper from a previous jam. You can estimate where to look by how far the paper goes in before it starts to twist to the side. Sometimes I've had to use a dental pick to snag a shred buried deep inside as an alternative to dismantling the printer. You may find it helpful to use a small mirror to look underneath or behind rollers while you search for the culprit.

Another possibility is one side of a dual pickup roller (two rollers on a single shaft) is worn out. That is unlikely; except for large format units most printers use a single pickup roller.

Printer says to clear paper jam and press OK there is no paper jam

If the HP All-in-One has a paper jam, first check the rear door. If the jammed paper is not
in the rear rollers, check the top door.

To clear a paper jam from the rear door
1. Turn off the HP All-in-One.
2. Press in the tab on the rear door to release the door. Remove the door by pulling it
away from the HP All-in-One.
CAUTION: Trying to clear a paper jam from the front of the HP All-in-One can
damage the print mechanism. Always access and clear paper jams through the
rear door.

Photo tray problem prompt keeps recurring though trayis pushed in

I have a HP C8180 that had a persistent "open and close the photo tray" error. I have fixed it 100% guaranteed. I undid two small torx screws on the right hand lower panel, removed the panel which is a bit awkward and needs to be worked at, and there in front of my eyes was a screwed up piece of paper, the remnants from a paper jam, interfering with the rotary encoder and switch mechanism. So next paper jam, make sure you retrieve all of the sheet of paper. Replacing the panel is also a juggling act. good luck.

Open front/back lids, gently remove jammed paper, make sure all pieces are removed before restarting.

1320 Printer prints with corner fold

This tells me something is getting caught usually I would recheck the Paper Tray. If possible you could run the paper through the Bypass or Tray One as HP would call it. See if it is happening there if so then you can eliminate the Cassette Trayi

Also Did you run any lables through this Printer ??

MY PRINTER WON'T PRINT ERROR CODE 0XC05D1281

First, be certain there are no tiny pieces of paper in your printer, left from the paper jam.

Then, you need to reset your printer - try:

1. Unplug from the power cord.
2. Wait 30 seconds.
3. Plug in the power only.
4. Repeat steps 2-4 two more times.
5. On the third time after plugging the unit into power check the functionality.

And, if the above doesn't fix:

1. Unplug the power cord from the back.
2. Wait for the unit to go to the sleep mode. Wait for 60 seconds.
3. Press and hold Print Photos & Photo Fix
buttons simultaneously on the control panel; keep them pressed and reconnect the power cord.
4. Continue pressing the buttons until the display goes blank or Reset shows on the control panel display.

Good luck.

Paper jams

Had this problem, too with HP PSC 1610 AIO, paper would pull in part way and stop, then display would indicate: Paper Jam, Clear Jam and Press OK, but there was no paper in the path at all. Found in HP forums that possibly the problem was a broken off piece that may be called the "x-bias" lever which is on a little spring inside the printer just to the left of the carriage bay on the right side of the device. There are two photos of "broken" and "not broken" at this forum site:

Since HP does not sell the little part to repair it, I phoned HP and got a good "trade-in, trade-up" price for a better device. Hope this helps someone else find the answer to the constant paper jam issue, as I always appreciate the FixYa forum help from everyone else here, too.

Most likely worn pads & rollers, I'm afraid. Kits are available though. Not too dear.
