Question about Denon Audio Players & Recorders

1 Answer

My AVR-885 suddenly stopped playing audio for HD satellite channels (SD channels are fine). It's definitely the Denon Receiver and not the satellite receiver because I tried my old Kenwood receiver and the audio was fine. Had a similar problem about 12 months ago with my XBOX 360 not playing audio on a different optical input. It suddenly started working again about 6 months later. Any ideas?

Yes, I had a problem with this receiver before. It has happened with 2 of the 3 optical inputs though. All other audio inputs work (RCA, etc.). I find it strange that sound from SD channels is played, but sound from HD channels is not. Both are being input through the same optical cable and input.

I understood that you had problems before with this device ...so ..I suspect that its a physical problem with the plug -in for optical cable ...did you try a RCA type cord? its that plug like the one we use for classic DVD to the tv...it has separate plugs for video and sound...but it might just work ...if with this new kind of connection still wont work ..it means its not the plugs but something electromechanical wrong with the audio on the receiver ...either the amplification ...or some plug remain locked ( like the one that bloc the main sound when you hook -up the ear-piece )...or maybe just a wire that do not make contact like it should..

I see if the sound from all other ways are played its not the actual sound problem ...but it only not receiving well the sound on the High definition ..channels ..so ...either retry the tunning or the problem its of compatibility or something of settings ..cause there is impossible to work in a way and not the other ...try to see if the same channels have sound in a different input kind and use it in the way they work ...cause I cant see what can be done in this case...

How should I connect my denon avr 1906 to my 32" ES6300 Series 6 SMART 3D Full HD LED TV Model numberUE32ES6300U in order to get dolby digital from the tv's tuner please?

Use an optical cable.

Be aware though. Your TV has a DVB-T tuner. It picks up the Freeview standard definition (SD) channels, but not the Freeview HD ones. Dolby Digital sound only comes from the Freeview HD channels.

Your TV will pass Dolby Digital from any source connected to a HDMI port to the Optical Out. It will also pass DTS. But the internal Freeview DVB-T tuner doesn't generate Dolby Digital, just stereo and stereo with Dolby Surround encoding where you use ProLogic II for decoding.

Hi, I have a denon AVR 889 about 4 years old and the subwoofer suddenly stopped working, how can i check if its the amp or the sub thats the problem?

A Denon AVR 889 is not a sub so we don't know anything about the sub in question.

Maybe the existence of the sub is no longer set in the AVR. Look at the speaker definitions first before going to wild.

Try another cable to the sub.

OR, run the sub's signal supply cable to one of the Tape Outs on the receiver and tune in something on FM. If that works a) it will be loud, and b) go back to the SUB settings on the AVR.

Crack the sub open and access the terminals on the speaker itself. Disconnect them from internal components and run one of your amp channels directly to it. If it works, the amp or signal path are dead. If it doesn't work, it's a dead driver.

Just bought a 46" Samsung

This is a site where you can download a manual. I'm not familiar with Denen however, you should be able to go out of satellite receiver(HDMI) to your receiver input(tv/sat) then to your HDMI input on tv. Your receiver might show video and sound through another port of receivers options, ie; video 1, video 2, etc. Check all putput options for your picture and sound. Hope this helps.

5ch/7ch stereo in 5 channel mode

Front panel button engaged for 5 or 7 channel operation? Also check front panel rear surround speakers button is engaged. Should get you back to 7.1 unless you have changed the rear surround speaker setup for a 2nd zone, also be sure you have a 7.1 DSP setting enabled.

Denon AVR 1705-no audio on TV

I have had the same problem and was told that it is a "board" inside. Essentially it has lost the surround sound ability and can only play things in Direct/Stereo. Mine is just over 2 years and I originally thought my kids had hit a button on the thing causing the issue...ended up paying $100 to trouble shoot it and confirm that it is internal and more expensive to fix than replace. Can't say that I will be buying a Denon again.

Digital audio cuts out.

Hi,
I have same DD 5.1 tiny "bursts" problem with satellite HD channel. It is probably problem with Crystal DSP (German site): http://forum.digitalfernsehen.de/forum/showthread.php?t=89328&page=3
"Denon bietet Lösung für EX-Flag-Problem bei den Modellen AVR-1602 und AVR-1802 an

07.08.2002(cr)
