Question about Ace Hardware Power Glide Cordless String Trimmer

1 Answer

The replacement spools that I've seen in store and on line have a metal "cap" on the top. The ones that I have used are all plastic. Can I still get the old kind without the metal "cap"? KK

Restring a pgt300 performance power strimmer, it has a white casing which does not come off preventing me from adding more line

There should be 2 plastic tabs which you have to push in, this removes the wider outer base cover of the strimmer spool, giving you access to the bump cap and line spool.

Depending on the style you have, one looks to be a whole replaceable spool unit, one looks like a re-threadable spool.

I NEED A SPOOL COVER WHERE CAN I GET IT ?

How to make a spool cap cover for an American Gardener YS24 (Weedeater XLT24) Trimmer

If you've tried to buy parts lately for your trimmer, you've noticed they are harder and harder to find. In fact, I was unable to find a spool cap cover, so I came up with this work-around.

Before you start this project, it's important to save any parts from the old spool cover-especially the top, if you can. The top is needed to make a spacer for the new cover that will still allow you to "bump" out the string.

I used a Craftsman 71-64215 replacement spool retainer to make my new spool cover cap. It fits the Craftsman C3 19.2 volt 74381 String Trimmer (CRAC06540 spool cap). I found this cap at a local Ace Hardware, but apparently it is also getting hard to find-I googled the Ace Hardware number to find it on the web-"7314644 cap." I bought a couple extra from HardwareDistributors.com. Note that the diameter of the cover at the tabs is the same diameter of the old cover-although the diameter of the cap is slightly larger.

Take the old cover, and using the tab from the old cover, mark a line on the new tabs the same width as the old. Make sure you center the old tab on the new tab so you will remove the same amount of plastic from each side of the new tab. I used a dremel tool with the cutoff wheels to cut the tabs on the new cap to the same size as the old cap.

If you look at the new cap, there is a round plastic circle ridge on the bottom of the cap. If you look closely you can see a slight indention, or discoloration on the top of the new cap matching the circle on the bottom. You need to cut the plastic out of the new cap matching the plastic circle. I used a dremel tool with a metal cylindrical grinder to do that.

Once you get everything cut, put the old cap into the new cap so that the spokes face down toward the similar spokes on the top of the spool. You may have to trim the old cap so it fits into the new cap.

Finally, snap everything together into your trimmer-don't forget the spring. Note that the new cap has about a 1/8 inch gap above the spool. However, this doesn't seem to affect the trimmer-and you can still "bump" the head to eject the string.

How do I put the water in the radiator?, where is the opening?

Should have a clear plastic tank on one side of the engine compartment with a cap. A hose runs from the top of the radiator to the tank.
The tank for the windshield washer has a snap on cap, the radiator reserve tank has a twist on cap.

Just bought a TE475. can't figure out how to replace the line compared to the traditional one-line configuration I am used to

Here is the info from the manual, the replacement line is put in near the center of the spool on the top of it, you simply feed it in. I have included a link to the manual so you can see the pictures. Look at page 10 for these instructions.

How do you add trimmer line to Troy Bilt TB539E Weed Eater?

This model trimmer uses .095" diameter line, your local home improvement store will carry replacement line and it will also carry a replacement spool with the line already spooled on it.

This trimmer is a "bump advance" trimmer meaning you bump the head on the ground while it is spinning to advance line out.

What to do to replace the line is place the trimmer on a stable flat surface (like a workbench), raise up the head if the trimmer and unscrew the cap and CAREFULLY remove the spool...you do not want to lose the spring! Take a look at the spool, it will show the direction to spool the line, spool the line then replace the spool by first putting the spring back on the shaft, then put the end of the line through the hole(s) on the side of the outer head, press the spool in place and screw the cap back on.

Of course you can eliminate about 90% of the headaches by buying a pre-spooled head at your local home improvement store...then you follow the directions above and can skip the spooling part. Cheers!

Adding antifreeze to 2003 dodge dakota sxt

normaly you add to the plastic res , but lets make sure its full , so when it is cold the engine then open the radiator cap the metal one slowly and first top it off then close cap all the way and fill plastic res to the cold fill line. but usualy you just make sure the plastic tank is either full to the hot line or cold line , which is when the engine is hot or cold. but it is also good to check both .

1992 full size f150...

Assuming your talking about the circular line release tools?

The cheap plastic versions do not work very well on older lines that have even a little rust... The 2 piece metal line release tools work excellent, but $5-12$ for plastic / $30-99$ for metal, and higher if your talking mac,matco,snap-on ect for the metal set..

Some times you have to grasp the fuel filter and the tool with one hand, grasping the filter with your palm while still keeping a lot of pressure on the tool going into the filter connection with your fingers.. Then with your other hand grab the fuel line and begin to push both hands together then pull apart...repeat till it comes out..

Make sure you have the right size tool on the line.. I've seen people try to use the wrong size tool many times... With the plastic release tools I have experience with the tool snaps on the line very tight..
If this does not help please let me know and i will assist you in another way.
