I bought a new Sharp memo master el6390 by mail (E-Bay). Since it didn't work, I replaced the dead batteries, and then I could hear the keyboard clicking, so I know its working, but the display remains completely blank.

Ah! My friend. you are lucky that you ask the right person. I have fixed so many V551 with LCD defect so this symtom is usual on v551 and most Motorola Flip phones. As you know, the construction of the LCD cable has been designed by a long ellectric thin wire and one side will connect into the main and CallerID smaller LCD and the other end will connect to the main board and the part in the middle will stuck inside the hinge where the flip will apply a lot of force for the function of open and close. for a long period of usage, it will either worn out the middle part of the cable or loose the connection of either side which cause loosing display. That is why you can call and receive but cannot see anything. The simple thing is open the case and check first at the main board side for any bad contact and tougher the other side is inside the main LCD. If you find both side are still good in connection then the middle part is bad due to flipping so many time of the user in order to open and close. YOU THEN NEED TO REPLACE THE NEW LCD. I have two solutions to help you in this case: 1) View on the link below for the instruction of how to open the housing. http://sbarth.dyndns.org/seiten/rahmen.php?nav=motorolahandy Sorry the link is in German but you can look at the picture to follow. 2) Or email me at [email protected] if you want me to repair the phone for you. I will charge you for only $10.00 for labor fee and $5.00 for shipping. I am sure to make your phne back to normal or your money back. My shipping address is below: JOSEPH DAO P.O. SOURCE: Motorola V3m: keyboard lights up:keys frozen,no power to screen.
If you did not replace the firmware,or try and hack the phone then it just died. Nothing last forever. This just means that the light did not die, but the hardware that holds the firmware could have went bad.
You could contact moto and see if they will fix it cheaper than you
can get one off e-bay. You only have 8mo left till your contract runs out. Do not use the upgrade through the carrier,or you are getting robbed. Either wait till it runs out and start a new one or go to
www.wirefly.com, you can get the same exact contract through the same carrier but get a way lower price on the phone, unless the phone you want is free. You could have someone try and reflash
a new firmware on the phone, but I don't think that is the problem.
Hope moto does something for you.

SOURCE: replacing batteries on a ti-30xa
Hi,
After the batteries are installed you
need to reset the board. There is a little reset area that needs to be
shorted to get the calculator back to normal. Look closely at the
circuit board- You'll see a little circle next to the word reset. Its
near the middle of the board. Wet your finger- press it on the circle.
It should short.Blow it dry.
Please do rate the solution if the issue is resolved or post a comment for further assistance.
Thank you for using fixya have a nice day:-)
