Hp 1907w monitor locking up

I am looking for some help with the monitor on my grandparents (hp 1907w) computer. They leave it on all the time and today it locked up with what looked like the bottom part of the screen picture repeating over and over again. Like when the horizontal hold needs adjusted on a TV but without the movement. I shut it all down, waited a few minutes and turned it back on. It booted back up but the monitor kept going into sleep mode before it was all the way back on. Finally, I got it to stay on long enough for my Grandpa to get through one game of solitare and he stopped playing for awhile then it happened again. Any ideas on what to try would be greatly appreciated!

Go into the monitor menu and choose factory reset....Make sure the resolution is set correctly. (see here.)
You might want to run My Display, or install it if you haven't (See here)
Make sure the latest drivers for your os are installed. See here and here., and this tutorial for updating your video card or graphics adapter.
I've seen some reports in the forums about sleep problems on these, but the cause could easily be the pc. If you can, switch monitors to confirm the fault to be with either the pc or the monitor, and try the monitor on another system...
That's all I can offer you right now, as the HP site seems to be having trouble this evening...

I hope this information allows you to resolve this issue. If you need further assistance, please post back with a comment to this thread.
If I've managed to answer your question or solve a problem, please take just a moment to rate this post....thanks!

Yes don't buy HP, they are famous for breaking down just outside the warranty.

My HP Pavilion M90 monitor won't turn on. Every time I press the on button I hear a clicking sound from the back of the monitor. It sounds like it's trying to power up but it doesn't do anything. Is there...

Hello

Do a hard reset on the laptop by removing all cords and connections from the computer, including the power cord. Turn the computer over and slide the tab next to the battery, then lift the battery out of its compartment.

Eject any SD cards currently inserted in the SD card slot by pressing on them, then remove them from the slot completely. Hold the computer's "Power" button down for at least 15 seconds, then plug the power cord into the computer and turn it on.

Watch to see if the LED lights near the "Caps Lock" and "Num Lock" illuminate. If the lights do not turn on and the computer's screen remains blank, inspect the power cord and AC adapter for damage and replace them if necessary.

Leave the power cord plugged into the computer and snap the battery back into its slot. Allow the computer to sit for at least 30 minutes, then unplug the power cord and press the "Power" button again to see if the computer will turn on.

Plug the power cord back into the computer and try to turn it on again. If the computer turns on, replace the battery with a new one. If the computer still does not turn on, take the computer to a repair shop.

I did not see anything regarding to the Power locked out function, may be it's time to call HP. Please post back what you find out from HP.
I look at HP WEBSITE: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c01632269&tmp_track_link=ot_recdoc/c01643091/en_us/c01632269/loc:1&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&product=3770762

Locking OSD settings
When the OSD is locked, settings cannot be changed in the OSD menu. The OSD functionality is enabled or disabled by pressing the Menu button and holding it for 10 seconds. Upon disabling the OSD, an OSD Lock-out message is displayed for 10 seconds. When the OSD is locked and an OSD menu button is pressed, the OSD Lock-out message is displayed for an additional 10 seconds. When the OSD is locked, pressing the OSD menu button for 10 seconds unlocks the OSD and displays the main menu. Identifying monitor conditions
Special messages display on the monitor screen for the following monitor conditions:
  • Input Signal Out of Range : Indicates the monitor does not support the input signal because the resolution and/or refresh rate are set higher than the monitor supports. Recommended refresh rates are as follows:
    • For the w1858 monitor: 1366 x 768 @ 60 Hz.
    • For the w2338h monitor: 1920 x 1080 @ 60 Hz.
  • Monitor Going to Sleep : Indicates the screen display is entering a sleep mode.
  • Check Video Cable : Indicates a video input cable is not properly connected to the computer or monitor.
  • OSD Lock-out : When the OSD is locked, the warning message OSD Lock displays for 10 seconds.
  • No Input Signal : Indicates the monitor is not receiving a video signal from the computer on the monitor video input connector. Check whether the computer or input signal source is off or in the power-save mode.
  • Auto Adjustment in Progress : Indicates the auto-adjustment function is active and in process.

System crash--won't boot up

The intermittent beeping is the error code. It is important that you notice how many beeps your computer makes.
Then, you can go to the following link (from HP) http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=bph07107&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&product=71010&lang=en
and check what is wrong with your computer.

Anyway, you can always recover the information on your computer, but will have to take the hard disk out of the computer and plug it onto another as a secondary hard disk.
